Im so sick and tired of greedy artists trying to halt AI Art
AI Art is the ultimate equalizer in the sense that it allows anyone to put in a description of what they want and then they get that, or something near enough.

It's fantastic for users. It gets rid of needing to commission every little thing saving $$ for the average bob. Not everyone is made of money to be paying artists tons of money for a picture that might take days to make when you can just roll the generator a few times and get something of equal if not better quality than the artist themselves.

The "compromise" argument is also hilarious. Anyone who pays an artist OR uses a generator is compromising because they're relying on a third party to make their vision.

AI Art Good. Greedy Artist bad. :)

equalizer? Most anyone can learn art unless you have a condition like say carpel tunnel or really bad shaking. I've even known colorblind artists and artist that ignore the carpel tunnel pain to draw a little bit longer.

Is it going to be an equalizer when ai writes your novels because you don't want to study language?

Is it going to be an equalizer when AI builds your house because you don't want to learn how to hammer nails and draw blueprints?

ig it's cool when ai is used as a tool to create art, but much of it i've seen looks soulless (and most of the characters literally look exactly the same). i don't have anything against ai as an idea at all though - i believe there's way too much fearmongering around it.

But if your opinion is that being able to get something free with no effort is an equalizer.

Doesn't that mean everything is only equal when we are like gods that can have anything we want created at our finger tips?

AI art is still art

How would you feel if the primary method by which you earn your living experienced a sudden and startling rise in AI and automation?

But honestly, how people feel about AI art doesn't matter in the slightest, and all these efforts to kill it will ultimately fail. Even if they manage to get governments involved, it's already out there. You can run a very good AI image model privately on a powerful desktop computer. If one country tries to squash it, another country will take full advantage of it and out-compete the ones who squashed it.

No, the only thing anyone can do is accept the reality of it and ask "What's next?"

Inevitably everyone will be replaced. Humans won't need to work anymore.

UBI is going to need to be accepted and commonplace otherwise there's going to be a French Revolution style uprising. The rich won't be able to unemploy the entire world population and expect society to keep working like normal.

I'm so sick of people trying to claim AI generated art and writing as their own, probably one of the most audacious moves from this current generation, theifs one and all.
the way an artist can fight back is to demand that any copyrighted work cant be used to train ai
or pay royalties somehow
Devsman May 13, 2023 @ 11:35pm
Like they made any money anyway.

The paintings that actually sell are made by like a handful of artists.
just like goggle should be paying royalties to the person every time it uses info scraped from people to decide what ads to show

Then there are the fraudulent copies that people think are the real deal, art is only valuable when it's popular, take Banksy for instance, his stuff is utter crap. He rips the piss out of the whole valuation system.

AI has no rights so under our current legal system the art is literally the property of the human running the AI.
Kamiyama May 13, 2023 @ 11:44pm
And it should be that way.

If humanity is going to progress into a post-work era then whatever we have AI do should be done for our benefit.

If AI works for its own benefit then we aren't progressing into a new enlightened golden age we are progressing towards our extinction.

I mean an AI that generals illegal art is still illegal mate, there's a reason why the law is actually turning their eyes toward it slowly, because people have decided their AI generated art which indeed has no laws can be 100% okay with illegal crap on them.

And if you think thats a joke then you have yet to see half the site's that exist reason for not allowing it.
