Why do people say ACAB (All Cops Are Bastards)?
If being a cop is inherently a corrupt position, what alternative solution is there to do? Not have cops and let the streets turn to unnecessary chaos? There are indeed corrupt cops out there but to say that ALL of them are corrupt?

They started out as vigilantes who hunted slaves then they became the KKK then they became hired thugs for gangsters and then they were officially called the police

Welcome to the modern web. Most of us live in reality but the web has it's own alt reality show that you are not part of. I am not part of but we can do nothing about.
I thought it meant Bad not Bastards.

I'm gonna wager a guess that people who get harassed by police believe this.

I'm of the opinion that you can't be a good person if you allow a bad person to do evil things in your presence. That applies to everyone, cop or not.

The only evil worse than the acts of wicked men is the indifference of good men.
Because people love generalizing stuff
It's an unfair generalization, only exacerbated by two big issues: just how quickly police and their unions have been to close ranks around bad cops, and just how easy it is for a known bad cop to move an hour and go right back to policing.

It's getting better, of course, but slowly and only because people now carry around cameras and legally record suspected violations by officers.
I don't understand ACAB people at all.

Brave men and women are putting their lives at risk every single day to protect the communities and I have very high respect for law enforcement, as I think people should, in general.

That doesn't change the fact that bad apples need to be addressed, as is the case with any institution or organization.

All police derive from an authority that cannot control their actions, only punish them after the fact. An authority that changes with some frequency, and which has no true care about the individual officer whose authority is granted by their process. Not until after he's misbehaved while acting under their badge.

In other words, your average bastard child.

It's a term that gained popularity before divorce rates skyrocketed, and its revival is most likely to drive actual bastard children towards law enforcement via negative stereotype rejection.
because that

And in the same breath, they'll say only police and military should have guns lol.

The more 'bastards' that are encouraged to become police the more impossible police reform seems to become. Thus the more draconian policies the police must enact, so that only power-mad bastards would want to be one. Ad infinitum.

It's the same thing as the cycle of poverty informing most crime.

It's a tough nut to crack for sure.

Crime will never stop. So, naturally, police committing crimes is never going to stop. You just have to have systems in place to catch them similar to policing anything else.

This is marxist groupthink at the base level, just like we have to blame all white people for all past racism, all Christians for the anti-gay passages contained in the bible, and all Jewish people for the actions of Muslim extremists.
They'll also be the first to cry for them when they're in trouble

"OMG I'M BEING BEATEN AND MUGGED!!!! SOMEONE CALL A PEACE OFFICER TO DEESCALATE THE SITUATION!!!!"

These people aren't to be taken seriously.
