All the truly great drivers are gone and it`s nothing but boring circlejerk these days.

Schumacher, Häkkinen, Räikkönen, Barrichello, Senna, Prost - the oldies but goldies, guess ancient history to current generation.
The racing is intense!

The strange amount of drama and worship that many Euros attach to it is boring and weird. :marten_sip:
Been stale since 2001. Schumacher Domination, Alonso Domination, Vettel Domination, Hamilton Domination and now Verstappen Domination.

If Indycar drivers wrecked less often it would be a far superior open wheeled category to watch.
Pretentious ♥♥♥♥♥

Isn't it kind of like the Opera of auto racing?

Yeah, I get it. Some people prefer the opera over a good rock and roll concert, but you're right -- they do tend to be quite pretentious about it, while condescending to people who like rock and roll concerts.

"That's not real music. *THIS* is." :snifffs: :lifts opera glasses:

F1 is cool for the engineering behind the cars, but I couldn't care less about the actual race. NASCAR's original idea of "let's take stock cars, supe them up, then race" is also cool but now they have specialized builds and it's not the same. That being said I find NASCAR slightly more interesting to watch than F1
Top fuel racing where the game at.
I met an older gentleman at a nursing home near Daytona a couple of months ago, while my mom was rehabbing from a broken hip. He was in Daytona as a late teen, and through his twenties and thirties, and had a lot of stories about when half the Daytona track was still literally on the beach sand, and you could see how much it lit up his eyes, how much fondness he had for that era.

I've known a lot of NASCAR fans throughout my life, from many walks of life and spanning many income levels, and they're really into it, but one thing they all had in common: not pretentious.

I'm not a big fan myself, never been to a race, but the people I've known put the lie to the stereotype that they're all hillbilly redneck yokels. Some, sure. And doctors, lawyers, EMS, businessmen, resteraunt owners, mechanics.
