What's your favorite dinosaur?
Or prehistoric animal? Erm I know it's kind of off-topic but answers would be great.

Velociraptor

Spielberg sold us a pack of lies,Master Moo. They were all lies.

Velociraptors were lil feathered turkeys that couldn't even survive during dinosaur times. They were already extinct millions of years before the big bad asteroid came along.

Velociraptors had sh!t-tier survival skills.

I've been forced to fall back to my second favorite - the mighty T-Rex. I just hope Ulfrinn doesn't tell us the T-Rex was turkey sized too.

*fingers crossed*

Nah, they were huge. Another lie from Jurassic Park is that a spinosaurus would ever stand a chance in a fight against one. The relatively narrow and long shape of a spinos lower jaw, and how it was socketed in wouldn't have been able to bite something large and struggling without possibly getting it's jaw broken. Another JP lie about the t-rex is the poor eyesight. It likely had the best eyesight of any animal to ever exist. Think of how well eagles see, and you can imagine that scaled up about 100x. Not only would a t-rex still see you if you don't move, it'd see you from miles away. ;-).

Allosaurs and carnotaurs tend to be my favorites though. Allosaurus because of it's body plan, and how it fought prey, using it's arms to hold onto stuff while it bit down. And carnotaurus for the oddity of it. Built for raw speed, it's tail vertebre grew to interlock to compensate for the majority of it's tail going towards propelling the hind legs for power and speed, while it's front arms were likely vestigial, possibly immobile. Like the little spurs underneath some snakes that used to be their legs, meaning that dinosaur essentially had no arms.

Yeah, I've seen an actual T-Rex skeleton. They're big.

Still, can't believe you ruined my Hollywood velociraptor image with your stupid facts. It's like you shot my velociraptor image with a shrink-ray gun. How you got that gun I'll never know...

And yeah, both you and Liquidator like the Allosaurus. But how can your favorite dinosaur be one that didn't make it to the K-T asteroid? The T-Rex made it. The Allosaurus was just flash in the pan - a stepping stone.
Karensaur
Phorusraucos, Definately a prehistoric Animal and I would argue it could count as a Dinosaur as well. Haast Eagle might beat it although we would need to discuss exactaly what qualifies as "prehistoric".

I seem to remember that the Jurassic park featured the Deinonychus, but Spielberg preferred the name Velociraptor.

I really dislike it when Hollywood feeds us with false information. It just misleads people.

Grant digging up Velociraptors in North America is unforgivable but to be fair calling their dinosaurs Velociraptors instead of Deinonychus because the name sounds better seems exactally like something the park staff would have done to make people want to visit more [insert comparison to flea circus here].

It used to be one of my favorites too but I was so disappointed to find out that it wasn’t the size of a mosasaurus and more like the size of the great white. Not that there’s anything wrong with liking it though!
Diplodocus.

They're like giant leaf eating puppies.

What if dinosaurs look nothing like we think they did? I mean, sure, we have the skeleton, but come one, there has been so much discussion over feathers or no feathers, that surely there are a lot of stuff we've gotten wrong over the years.

What if the T-rex was pink-and-purple and had a mohawk? :p

Feathers are a definite for coelurosaurs. This is the larger group that includes raptors, tyrannosaurs, therizinosaurs, ornithmimosaurs (like gallimimus), and of course raptors. The other groups of dinosaurs are what's still up for debate, butt here is some evidence of small, two-legged ancestors of triceratops having them. Given theropods (the two legged, primarily carnivorous dinosaurs) and ceratops are on completely different sides of the earlier fork of dinosaur families, if it turns out to be true then it would mean they were all genetically predisposed to having them.

Something else that's interesting is evidence for other structures used for communication. Like large sauropods having some kind of sack on the front of their face they can use their sinuses to resonate air through and create extremely loud vocalizations. And like many modern birds, it seems very likely some males may have been excessively decorative in their appearance in several species.

Some stuff they do know for a fact about appearances is skin impressions of some animals laying in mud and that mud fossilizing. There was some dinosaurs that got mummified, then fossilized so they can see their internal organs. Some pigments on the microscopic level will fossilize in the right sediment so there's proof microraptor was jet black, with sort of an iridescent shine like a modern crow. And there's even a perfectlt preserved tail from a small raptor species trapped in amber showing off brown feathers on top, and lighter ones underneath.

Wow, a Triceratops (-ish creature) with feathers. That sounds cool, I think that's my new favorite :D

Well just remember all dinosaurs evolved from a common bipedal ancestor, so the earliest ancestors of triceratops, stegosaurus, or even the giant long neck dinosaurs were two legged. The ceratops ancestor that had some kind of feather structures on it was psittacosaurus if you want to read up on them. It was two legged and also about the size of a dog.
