Been looking around some of those "is it woke" detectors out of curiousity and yeah it's all a bunch of nonsense as the list of games they included on their "woke games to avoid" list is puzzling, like how are games like Granblue Fantasy: Relink, Super Robot Wars 30, Like A Dragon: Ishin or Undertale "woke"?

The game detectors are a good thing, because it means less conservatives in your game, and your game's community. Do you really want people who get triggered at the sight of; gays, trans people, women, blacks, etc, in your communities or games? Fan Translations in the 90s and the 00s were legitimately only for games that were unreleased over here. No one cared about localization til the 2010s. If there are fan translations to correct "woke" translations, it's a very recent development considering Fan Translations have been a thing for over 20 years, perhaps even over 30.

The point of a fan translation is that they want to play a game in their native langauge, but it's not available in said language, so they translate it was best they can. It's a complicated and lengthy process that someone with a chip on their shoulder against a certain type of culture they perceive as bad would be unlikely to finish.

Also fan translations were almost only done by a team of people who respected each other.

I think he's referring to undubs, not fan translations. An undub is basically a revised translation of a game, anime or any other piece of media that aims to be as faithful to the original version as possible. If a game has voice acting, they usually have the Japanese audio while having English subtitles that are directly translated from the initial script. When using emulation, I usually play on undub ROMs for JRPGs and other PS1-era Japanese games, except if they are Capcom games (for entirely ironic reasons).

Seriously, I always get a chuckle out of RE1's voice acting.

First off, I can't draw well at all. Second off, jet black rounded rectangular frames, with a beveled nose piece, jet black arms with what looks like stainless steel clips added to them. Why yes, I know what my own glasses look like. I also see my glasses all the time because there are parts of my vision where it is noticeably worse. Meaning that my brain isn't filtering it out at all. I'm just not consciously caring because these allow me to see well enough to function in the world.

Just ignore the games that have stuff you don't like. I do that too.

That might say something about those people but not about woke. Even more likely however, is that it says the most about you and how you like to read and judge those things.
