Wendy's sells their chili in cans at grocery stores now. I haven't tried it yet.

The only canned chili I would buy would be a Cincinnati style chili or maybe hot-dog chili.

I take pride in making my own main-course chili.

I prefer chili without the chili's as I can't take the heat. I call it mince.

It’s hard to mess up chili.
People put beans in it sometimes .

Skyline Cincinnati-Style chili is often around $7-$8 a can... I usually buy several each shopping trip, though sale-prices and the like can cause some variance. I haven't never seen it under $7 in years.

Wendy's chili, at least from a regular Wendy's, is garbage. It's chopped up/failed hamburger patties with a chili-con-carni bean sauce stuffs. Who would buy that on the shelf??

Skyline chili is for spaghetti or some kind of weird northern stuff

If you go pretty much anywhere in Texas you will find chili ingredients simple and rarely differing: meat, sauce, peppers and spices. Carol Hancock, President and CEO of the International Chili Society, told Texas Living there is a specific reason why Texas chili contains no beans: it's tradition.

Yes. Or, it can be used on hot-dogs in a pinch.

That's why I used the phrase "main-course chili" - I wouldn't buy a canned chili designed to be served itself as a main course. Cincinnati style requires noodles/etc and is just a component of a dish. (It's still "chili" though, that comes in a can. :))
I wouldn't do a canned thing as that's pretty nasty.

I always make as much myself as I can or is practical. Obviously half the time if I'm making a pizza I don't make the dough but rather buy the dough premade just because it's easier and the pizza place I get mine from is just as good.

But Chilli is a no-brainer. You're saving very little by buying it in a can and getting something worse tahn doing it yourself.

It's simple to simply buy the beans you want, use the meat you want, and add as much tomatoes and paste plus spices that you want too. Canned stuff tends to be a SERIOUS sompromise.

I prefer fresh chili; preferably ones that I have grown in my real greenhouse or my indoor south south west facing winter garden ( ½ greenhouse with heating )

My favorite types are:

Chocolate Scorch Bonnet
Red Habanero
Red Jalapeño
Piri piri

I even grow Carolina Reaper and Ghost peppers which I use to make super spicy hot sauce.
