Half-Life 2 is technically post apocalyptic. World after alien invasion, etc.

+1 For S.T.A.L.K.E.R., I read the book, watched the movie, but still havent bought the games yet :L They have a buttload of mods.
Rage. Although everyone seems to hate it, I enjoyed it for the most part. My only complaint would be that it ends very suddenly. I had a sense I was at the end, then WHAM! I completed the game. Another good one is Darksiders. It feels a bit like God of War and seems to be pretty good so far. ( I haven't completed Darksiders yet.)

I like Rage, too. Darksiders 1 & 2. Bioshock series are a bit post-apocalyptic.
"State of Decay" is the best zombie/survival/dystopian game at the moment.

Despite what some have claimed here, avoid games like "Survive" and "The Dead Linger" - they are NOWHERE near fit for alpha release yet. I've seen demo pitches to publishers with more content, and I'm not saying that to be unnecessarily cruel. Whilst the developers concerned are much better than Hammerpoint, they have as much content as the "WarZ" (Infestation: Survivor Stories) - and we all know how much that is!

"7 Days to Live" is marginally better, and at least functional, if not finished.

"State of Decay" is full and finished, albeit a bit clunky - however it is rather unique.

Not to be dismissed is the utterly brilliant "Sir, you are being hunted". Again, in alpha stage but a FAR better state than the aforementioned alphas - fully playable, just with some missing content, I believe.

"Rage" is not bad either - it was much maligned partly due to issues (pop-in textures) and disappointment. Many expected an open-world experience but it is linear. Once you accept that, it is fun but a tad short. I'd recommend waiting for the inevitable Winter Sale for that one especially.
