why is Walmart and Amazon selling computers with Windows 10 that loses support later this year?
my 80 neighbour needs to replace his 20 year old ACER PC and most of the PC's online at amazon.ca and Walmart.ca have Windows 10 that loses support in September

he only watches youtube and other free streaming programs and amazon prime on his PC and uses the older flat screens with VGA still, his monitors are 5 years or more older and he doesn't understand the newer HDMI connected ones


my neighbour liked this Lenovo ThinkCentre [www.amazon.ca]

but I posted the PC link above in another steam hub here and got the response that the PC I linked too may not be able to be upgraded to windows 11 at all

Walmart website wont show the back of it's PC towers with all it's ports and connection and best buy sell refurbished TV and possibly PC or they may be overpriced there

They're just trying to get rid of "old warehouse items" by luring naive non tech savvy customers, or in stock market terms lure in "bag holders".

And those who know what they're doing might actually like the fact that these computes CANNOT upgrade to Win11 and all of its weird new things. They'd all be ideal for linux though.

They are selling off old rubbish that has been piled up in warehouses for years.

That system is from 2015-2016, and the official minimum system requirements for Windows 11 require a newer CPU. There are workarounds to getting Windows 11 running, but it would just be easier to install an up to date GNU/Linux distro such as Fedora Silverblue or Linux Mint.

it is old stock or crappy computer unable to support window 11

When did he get it? If he only just got it, send it back.
Alteratively he could move over to Linux

It's still a functional product without security patches. It could plausibly be used as an offline only machine.

It's the customer's responsibility to understand if it works for them. It's not the big box store's responsibility that you keep your OS secure of unforeseen threats.

Do people not understand that "dropping support" doesn't mean "won't work anymore"? :steamfacepalm:

There are still people running XP and WIndows 7 systems without the computer exploding just because the GREEDY corporate entity moved on.

How does selling computers with Win10 make them corrupt?

what do you mean, fake? you send me PMs all the time about articles detailing walmarts corruption. and i am really thankful for it, friend! it is always good to have friends towards a cause.

Alteratively he could move over to Linux


His ACER current computer which is over 20 years old keeps booting to the BIOS screen and checks the disc for errors and then ask for a Windows boot recovery disc and he doesn't have the disc's for it anymore and he can'r get to the windows 10 auto repair window

he needs a computer technician to remotely take over his PC and fix it for him and he doesn't want to pay someone to fix it
