"Ad Blockers are not allowed on Youtube" nonsense
If anyone got this message on youtube, you can ignore it completely. I bet they'll eventually force you to disable your adblocker, but it's not being enforced yet.

1. Download No-Script Extension for your browser
2. Learn how to use it
3. Never have to worry about ads or websites detecting your ad-blocker

Youre welcome

Use Invidious and yt-dlp while you still can.

Open source projects that provide easy access to these services have many dedicated maintainers who might keep these projects alive, so they may outlive the anti-adblock ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

On the other hand, some projects like Bibliogram (Instagram equivalent of Invidious) have been abandoned due to difficulties in development.

Considering Goolag is actively trying to fight, the community has to fight back.

There's no guarantee that access will be kept available this way, so for me, YouTube is already dead.

For years I just downloaded things I liked since I knew this day was coming. You will own nothing and pay per view in one way or another for everything.

It could die and I would still have my library of stuff. Until windows 11 owns my machine and decides to delete stuff.

Just going to keep my media isolated from the net from now on. Media server to TV on it's own local only network. Airplane mode

Still haven't forced me to disable my ad block where I am. A friend said in his country youtube forces ad block off.

If they do that here, I am not going to watch anything anymore on their platform. Just downloading the stuff.

If they stop me from downloading it, then I'm done with youtube for good.

Youtube makes money and PAYS you for your video (if it's good) with ads they post while you're watching, I know it sucks, but for those buying cars or going to far away trips with the money they received to make more videos PAID by youtube it's necesary, some live with it and very well

Get a few million views on your video and see how you feel about ads looking at your check lol
Because it is physically impossible to recognize something is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ even if you benefit from it. Of course

I've never been a huge fan of adblocking on free websites, especially ones with a premium option, they are free because the ads pay for their administration costs and if you don't like those you can pay for premium. Watching it for free without ads just makes it worse for the people who either can't figure out adblock or chose not to use it since if it isn't profitable for sites to be free they will remove the free version some people rely on.
we are talking about a multibazillion dollar company

yeah lets put 8 ads to a 6 minute video, our users will definetely love it

You say this as if the amount of money they make is going to change wheather they are going to put it behind a paywall if it starts losing money. If you don't think the site is worth viewing then don't view it with or without adblock, if you think people need to be able to see it then give the company a reason to not put it behind a paywall that not everyone can access.

The reason to not make a forced paywall is because without those creators the site would be dead.

I saw where people were saying that you can ignore the warning in the beginning, but there is a limit, so after so many warnings, you won't be able to watch videos anymore. From what I gather from researching online, you can bypass it currently by just not signing into YouTube.

I have a weird feeling that eventually YouTube will pull a Twitter/X situation where they will say that people have to log in to watch videos, and that way they can enforce their no adblocker rule and try to coerce people into paying for premium.

Honestly, I personally don't care what they do because there are other places that aren't as censored, like Rumble, Bitchute, Odysee, and so on.
Yeah, a competitor to youtube will probably pop up that doesn't have ads.

No ads without the users paying it?

Yeah, that is not going to happen :steambored:

And users will not want to pay over a video website v:

This isn't just about YouTube since it happens with articles all the time but they are slowly putting more features behind premium, and one of the reasons ads are increasing in amount/frequency is because there are fewer people who watch them who also don't have premium. And why would a creator make anything free there either when they aren't making much money from it?

Creators can take sponsors from other sources(many do), they make essentially nothing from the ads on YouTube.

Ads have always been getting more invasive. Even before Adblocks were near as common as they are now.

It's just greed, plain and simple.
