Firefox works flawlessly at blocking ads on YT still with ublock origin and any number of other adblockers.
Google needs to F-Off and die with its garbage ads.
Worked for me a while back and haven't gotten the pop up since.
Also don't stack adblockers because it triggers lots.
you probably have some other addon on your browser that has the ability to block ads and yt picks it up. i had to whitelist the site to both adblockers and malwarebytes and enhancer addon.
but i won't uninstall them they keep the rest of the web clean for me.
For how much longer though? Ublock origin doesn't do anything to Twitch, even on Firefox. I don't see why the same issue can't arise with Youtube.
Funnily enough, I actually have Youtube Premium on my phone, I just done feel like logging in when on my desktop, so I use adblocking to avoid being bothered. Perhaps I should get a Pihole just to be sure no ads are allowed at home.
Also Librewolf is a FOSS firefox fork focused around privacy, security and anti-ads / anti tracking ads.

Turns out it has Enhancer for youtube. You have to tick it off and see how it goes.
"for now"
Don't be so sure Firefox is a haven from what Alphabet are trying to do to Youtube, it is their website and how they code it after all and if Alphabet had a mind to go draconian about it, there isn't a lot we can do about it ultimately, especially when they hard code the adverts into the site itself and any attempt at disabling the adverts means the site is bricked for you no matter, so any adblocker and browser is useless and any attempt to use a script to bypass the adverts will not work because it breaks the hard-coding of the site in order and you are stuck with a partially loaded site as to where it broke.
I've long had a hatred for Alphabet, their google and youtube services and how they ultimately operate and keep your private data, as well as breach protection laws with your data, which has happened before. But you wanted to support them either directly or mindlessly, just in the same way with Microsoft.
No tough competition to change the market away from a path like this because everyone supports the monopoly, what else would you expect?
