Are most college degrees useless?
Seems like everything is a meme degree unless it's math/engineering, healthcare, or law school.

look having a edjucation helps say you were able to do tasks and stick to them.
comptia courses like A+ tho... are so old they dont apply in this age.. and are still being sold by them to make money from a outdated course.

Those are also meme degrees which their respective industries use as qualifiers for unrelated knowledge bases. That's why you have to go back two or three times.

The main purpose of the degree is to verify that you've been properly socialized for certain kinds of jobs. Mostly office jobs.

They help you get hired. A little bit.

The only one being useless are history, philosophy and anything related to language or literature like for example filolology... :steambored:

There is a reason why these careers have very few ppl (comparing to other careers) and why these careers only require a low mark instead of a higher one...

Ummmm what are you talking about?
A+ is still required today in any type of repair company involving computers.
It is constantly being updated every couple of years to address new tech....

I don't know why you would even say it doesn't apply in this age as it literally is a requirement for a lot of entry level repair positions for hardware.

EDIT: It received new guides and new exams last year in October.... so it definitely is not outdated.

Then you must of read from an outdated book because A+ was updated last year in October and the version I have back in 2016 still covers a lot of the tech.

I don't know how a screw driver and a multimeter is going to help you understand Bus architectures but sure....

I find that all college is a waste, especially now a days. I see so many people with degrees and certs and can't even do the job that they get...

If you NEVER got a job from Network+ or MCSE or MCSD from having the ACTUAL certification and not just studying and reading..... then you are one of the only people I have ever known to not be able to land a job with those certifications.

There is no testing center that I personally know of that offers those exams/certifications that DONT help you get a job since they have all the connections and they actually get a commission fee for sending certified people to them.

i wish i was lying, i had to beg a guy to get me a position and even with all the paper work i was being paid a junior position while working as a support team manager and i had to go from a basic tech.. to that in a year.

I sadly just don't believe that.
Those centers for certification have tons of scouts and if you missed them, they usually have a bunch of flyers, and if you didn't do that just going to the front desk the receptionist usually will hook you up by contacting companies that NEED those people.

I get pestered every single time I go renew some of my other certifications by companies even though I just go to simply stay current and don't even work in the IT field.

problem is there's enough of us in the market, for use to be replaceable.
our country is full of migrants that dont belong here.
if you break your arm at work, dont expect a visit, dont expect a iod, dont expect compensation.. lawyer or not.

i wish i was lying, but my crippled arm would tell another story.
they breaking all the laws and you cant fight them because they have all the money to make anything go away.

Yeah, that’s kinda useless now considering the current state of “genders”.

There are many micky mouse degrees out there that students waste time and money on and lead to nothing expect debt and broken dreams. You know you can do a course on Taylor Swift now at new york university, I kid you not.

Anyway I watched part of a youtube documentary about students who come over from china, singapore and other far eastern nations to study in america. And doing these shame courses just brings shame dishonour to the family and themselves.

While at the same, our students are studying nonsense degrees and getting tens of thousands into debt and end up working at starbucks.
