Why are female models portrayed against society's standards?
The vast majority of female models out there are super skinny.
However, according to what I have observed, most men prefer females that have some curves. Not obese, but curvy, womanly body.

Yet media pushes the " ideal image " of a super skinny woman. Why?

Also, I talk about models in areas where they want to reach a male audience, not a female audience.

Because it's cheaper for designers to create designs for small frames and the stick figure models don't take away attention from the clothing.

i watched some documentaries years back about size zero models and the things they have to go through in order to maintain the skinny small shape. Most female models eat very little and sometimes it gets to a point where bulimia can happen. Some size zero models are so frail they are physically exhausted after a little catwalking or standing around being judged or having a new design being fitted to them.

Some of these models after they left that life behind and put on some weight regret getting into such a state and want the industry to change.

It also has serious mental and physical complications depending on how long is goes on for with female models, maintaining such a dangerously thin shape can adversely affect the fertility of women and cause other issues because they are so malnourished.

This is as far from ideal as ideal gets where women who catwalk these items are concerned and it's not only exploitative, but it's frankly a disgusting practice that is accepted still. When you got healthy curvy women up on the cat walk modelling new items without those demands being asked of them, without having to compromise on their health and that of their future, that would be a positive step forwards from what we have today.

Yes I saw numerous of such documentaries and its mad. Sure, they do it voluntarily! They are not being forced to do there, but still.

Why doing all this if a curvy womanly feminine female is all what people want to see. I don't get it.

Why are you trying to sell female clothes to men?
The ideal shape; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venus_of_Willendorf

hasn't changed much over the years. :steamhappy:

Photos add pounds, so get a skinny model. They are nothing but glorified clothes racks anyways.

I never thought Olive Oyl was sexy, maybe Popeye knew something we don't know?
being a fashion model has nothing to do with societal standards, it's about fitting into specific sizes of clothes

Depends on which models you're looking at. Because some of them are plenty thick.
