Mobile games are not video games
They are mobile games. I hate looking at statistics of people who play video games, only for mobile games to be lumped in. I was reading a BBC article where is was talking about age of people who play certain games, their sex, race ect, but they said that included mobile games. Wouldn’t the data be more interesting if we saw who plays more mobile games than video games. They are so different in levels of quality and it pisses me off more than it should

They are games. Just low tier quality. Fortunately you have talented people that make up for the disservice.

Some people play ♥♥♥♥ games on pc/console, some play good games on mobile. Just because you think of all mobile games as bad doesn't mean they are suddenly not games

While I agree that most mobile games are just glorified slot machines, they're still considered video games. So those statistics are accurate.
They are all nothing more than freemium ####.
Most newer "games" are not real "games".
Soulless cashgrabs. Scams!

There are some good mobile games, just stick with paid games rather than that free to play junk

So at what point games aren’t considered games, OP? I’m feeling feisty today. Answer my question. I wanna instigate and crash out.

op just doesn't know what it's like to have a thriving simcity.
Idgaff how do you call them but i had more fun with Gravity Defied, Bobby Carrot, Crazy Penguin Catapult, Diamond Rush than with many so-called "real video games"

it is kinda hard to make a meaningful distinction, but i do agree that grouping mobile games whole-sale into the statistics seems a little bit muddying of the waters so to speak.

to me, it feels a bit like compiling statistics about peoples workout habits and finding out that a lot of people has a hand gripper laying by their chair, and they use it a couple of times each day as they sit still in their chair watching TV/movies/youtube/etc.
so you add that into the statistics and conclude that a lot of people exercise daily.
i mean, it is by definition exercise. but it does feel a bit muddying of the waters.
or is that simply "not real exercise"?

or if you compile stats about movie watching habits and put youtube shorts and tiktoks etc in there as well.

i dont claim to have an answer.
but i can agree that it feels like there is some sort of scale going on.
im not even talking about high culture snobbery, i just personally get completely different experiences from reading a full length horror novel with an extensive plot and story, than i get from reading a creepypasta.
i mean i like both, but i would not call the creepypasta a "book", while with the novel i would.

(and to be clear, of course both Candy Crush and New Vegas are games by definition, but equating them for the purposes of statistics does not seem very meaningful, nor does grouping "books" and "text messages" into statistics about reading habits.
a book publisher is not helped a lot by such statistics, and a games publisher can garner very little from that metric alone.)

Souls-like are not games.
I hate looking at statistics and see people who play souls games lumped in with the rest.
