Berserk, the series and the 3 Golden Age Arcs.

I first found Berserk through the movies, I have watched them all and enjoyed them a lot. But the thing is, I recently found the series, so I searched the net to see where the series takes place. Well most people are talking about the movies taking place at the same time as the movies and being a total remake, but when I watched the first ep of the series, it felt like it was carrying on directly after the movies (obviously the series was made before the movies)?

Am I correct in thinking this?

The first episode takes place a bit ahead of the Golden Age arc, then reverts back to it. The thought process behind them doing that is an enigma

Yeah, I just watched the second ep, it just goes exactly the same as the movies. I was getting excited that I could continue the story when I saw his one eye, one arm and that mark on his neck, but alas it did not happen. :-(

If you want to continue the story you should check the manga. I still think the series are better than the movies, both characters and story are better developed. The ending for the movies was less traumatic, though.

Trust me, the whole scene is much worse in the series.

Read the manga, the golden age arc is like a quarter or a third of the whole entire manga. Golden arc is pretty good, the only bad thing is they skipped the scene of the Black Dog Knights.
