What?
Are you saying that TF2 has bullet sponge enemies or are you trying to say something else?
Let me ask you this: how far away are you shooting from? Minigun bullets don't do much damage at long range.
The gunplay might be a bit dated now, but it was always fine LONG BEFORE the hats and other trading was introduced.
Why? A number of reasons, but pertaining to the issue you spoke of, it's because of the "rock, paper, scissors" interplay. Heavy can have a minigun which can mince similar enemies with relative ease, but is weak against another. The medic has what is best described as a pea-shooter, but also is strong against another enemy and so on.
It's learning what class is good against another AS WELL as building an effective team mix that makes the game engaging. Of course, it's easy nowadays to dismiss it because of the trading, but it's much better than that.
Maybe don't play the Heavy and play, I dunno, Soldier or something?
Maybe you're just not suited to Heavy. Unless that was just an example.
Also a quick note, not trying to insult you: 95% of people I've spoken with that say TF2 has bad gameplay are terrible at it. I'm assuming you're the 5%.
A very fair point. There's some classes on TF2 I just couldn't not grasp at all (such as the Scout). The Engineer I always found natural. It's a testament to a well-designed game when it can accommodate well for a range of play styles.
I guess I just prefer more realistic gunplay than an arcade styled one.
If TF2 had CS:GOs health and damage system then I would probably enjoy it better. The gameplay is no way bad. But some weapons, like the rocket launchers, you have to get a direct hit most of the time to kill someone.
Rocket launchers are great for NOT getting direct hits, though. Aim at people's feet rather than their body when using a rocket launcher.
Anyway, I see what you mean. TF2's mechanics are definitely not realistic. I would recommend maybe trying out Arena mode if you can find a server running it, though. It's TDM, but with no respawns. It's pretty intense.
EDIT: Just read through the other comments since I was too lazy to do that at first and saw someone already said this. Nevermind then.
Agreed.
If I may add to your point, Fallen Earth is stiff because it still relies on taskbar-based actions. It only has the crosshair targeting for "normal" attacks. Also, it's not a good recommendation out of all those games, because it's so remote from what the OP seems to like.
I love Fallen Earth and have played it a fair amount. It is VERY heavy on crafting too.
Warframe I personally loved with the card system, but I went to play it again recently, and I found nothing compelling there any more - it seems that was the best part of the shooter to me.
It seems they've torn a lot of the "catch" for progression away.
I gathered what you meant, hence my suggestions of the previous Borderlands.
Also another to add to that - Defiance. I don't know how well it plays on the PC (as I've been playing it on PS3, which despite being a lot of fun and similar to Borderlands in many ways, is terrible connection-wise) but I think it'd float your boat and it's also free-to-play.
