had it when i was 15, flippin hurts. dropped me on the way home from school and i started crawling home. my dad was coming home from work and saw me. took me to the hospital and was in surgery almost instantly.
oh ♥♥♥♥! that is horrible, partner. sorry to hear that.
yeah, this was many, many years ago. damn, more than 30 of em
Then you'll know that tooth ache is a walk in the park in comparison. Toothache is still annoying, but dear God, kidney stones is like you are in so much pain you're close to the point of passing out with not quite getting there. It's horrible,
The world has ALWAYS been a dumpster of variable situations, nothing has changed there to many degrees. Aprt from the imminent death thanks to climate change of course :)
But the trick is to find out what works for YOU. Granted it ain't so easy a lot of the time, and if you live in a horrible situation like in America, then it can be bleak.
I bang on about this a lot, but I became disabled and no longer allowed to work when I started a family and bought a house - a real ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. So, I first of all got all that squared away, and then worked out how I wanted to spend my time and be happy. It was difficult, but I'm in a situation where I do exactly what I want, when I want, and have hobbuies and things to do that keep me sane regardless of what else goes on.
I should probably stop all the commentary I give on the world, it just seems to hurt my situation blabbing about it. Especially since my mind is naturally drawn to the most ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up aspects. I can't help it though, I want to grab people by the ears and shout it in their face - THIS IS WHAT'S REALLY GOING ON!
I think you've either never had a proper toothache or you're vastly underselling it. I'm not talking about "the ice cream hurts my teeth" kind of toothache. I'm talking about having a golf ball sized abscess under your tooth which is splitting your tooth in half kind of toothache.
I used to skateboard(haven't skated since the pandemic), so I've broken bones, done serious damage to my knee cap from a fall, dislocated my ankle and outside of skating I have been stabbed. I've experienced some pretty bad pain but I wouldn't wish toothache on anyone.
It's difficult to explain why the toothache pain is so bad but I'll try.
It's basically a constant, sharp and stabbing pain that requires an extraordinary amount of self control to get relief before dentistry. One wrong move from your tongue and it's like a lightning bolt hits your mouth and you have to go through it all over again. Chew on the wrong side of your mouth and you can forget eating the rest of your food, because it feels like someone just stabbed you in the gums with a hot needle.
The pain is relentless and doesn't change levels which is what makes it such an awful thing. Think of it like a monotone sound that is constantly playing in the background. It's a little annoying at first but after 2 days...
Over the counter pain killers such as paracetamol, ibuprofen and aspirin give you some pain relief for muscle and bone injuries but absolutely nothing for toothache, as toothache is a pain caused by infection. You can't get relief from it unless you are prescribed specific antibiotics or have dental surgery.
There are obviously worse pains out there for sure, but toothache is definitely up there.
You can do things like drinking filtered water instead of straight out of the tap. Some area's have very chalky water(hard water).
However, I'd suggest you stick at trying to work out your own little area where you can have your peace as it really does help. Once you get into that mindset of being able to turn off (and games can be bloody fantastic for forcing that) you'll be OK I think.
