Noob is a slur for Newbie.
Newb or Newbie means someone that is new to a multiplayer game and usually willing to learn how to be better at it.

Noob on the other hand is a more derogatory term and is usually used in place of the word "idiot".

Newb is a term used to describe newer players,in the likes of Newbie.
Noob,on the other hand,is used to describe bad newer players.

however its spelt, noob is short for nubile,ie a young inexperienced person, usually in a lavicious sexual way,but hopefully gamewise it just means new to things! drunken nube in a boob tube...pass the lube!you get the idea.so when someone calls me a noob in a game,l giggle at the idea of some irate gamer grasping his joystick, ranting about how bad l am and then finally blowing his top.priceless!:yazdgirl::bandit::Attention_Sign:

Newbee earned a direct invite to TI4 but struggled initially, finishing 7-8 in the second playoff phase before defeating LGD Gaming and Mousesports in tiebreakers for 9th place. However, they did not lose another series the rest of the way, first defeating Titan, Natus Vincere and Invictus Gaming to progress to the top 8 main event in the winners' side. At the main event, they defeated Vici Gaming and then Evil Geniuses to set up an all-Chinese grand final against Vici Gaming - which was also a matchup of two teams who enjoy forming deathballs. VG took the first game, but Newbee came back to take the next three and the $5 million first prize, including a 19-3 blitzing in the decisive Game 4 in just over 15 minutes.

definatly not what l said. l just find it funny that new gamers are insulted by being likened to teenage girls which is what a nubile is. how can you quote something which isnt in the post? fairy snuff, l was being jokey, bit risque perchance, but definatly no mention of porn, bad spelling and a love of cheezy british film(carry on,adventures, confessions etc) l admit to that, but a quote l never typed, nah relax:cz1::ss13down::Attention_Sign:

I have been around since forever of gaming. I can tell you one thing, Noob is a relative new term that has it's roots in the word "rookie" and "Newbie" which often more then not came from Military slang for new cadets and the like fresh of acadamies and such places.

The gaming culture QUICKLY took this word to them selves, but just as quickly the word was taken in, it also got warbed a bit for ease of spelling and to hit a little bit harder.
Thus Noob was born.

I have played games since Commador and Atari and Amiga and such, so i have experienced first hand when and where this word was used and in what context.

The difference between a rookie/newbie and a noob is not much but still important (from my expreinces):

Rookies/Newbies are the newcommers, willing to learn, and are geniually friendly and quite enjoyable to be around, even if they are new to the game.

Noobs on the other hand, Tends not to try and learn to much. They tend to think themselves "1337" because they went through the tutorial of the game and think they know all there is to know. And more often then not are more annoying then good.

Well, that is atleast how i have seen it up until now and will keep seeing it. Noobs a new and won't earn much, Newbies are also new, but fast friendly learners that tends to stand as role models for noobs within just weeks of installation of the game.

It's the insulting/abusive version of "newbie".
