Rush through games or take your time?
I often stop and behold. I watch the scenery, take screenshots, examine indoor and character details and animations, take in music, voice acting and general ambiance, look for secrets and eastereggs, do backtracking, save and load back and forth to see how situations and dialogs can work out differently/how much freedom I'm given.

I've been recording music or some gameplay videos too, and I've been thinking about recording "special" or "key" moments where I believe the games reach their total heights in most memorable ways, both to possibly attract more people to these games and to be able to look at it myself again as I'm fond of watching gameplay and cinematic videos on YouTube. Then I sometimes could write like half a book of a review on some games too, and discuss just as much on the forums.

I hardly get some games finished that way. Some not even started. For some parts I tell myself to let go and simply take it in all as it comes rather than trying to turn it into half a science (because it's rarely fun to hang around one place or scenery for hours), but I also think that if I were a game dev I would appreciate if someone would examine my creative work as much. Must suck to design environments, monsters, mechanics and story branches only to have nobody see it, I guess.

How is it to you? Just start and go, "plug and play"? Or have you outgrown that rather careless, "free", "innocent" gaming attitude too and see more than just places to mess around in?

I always want to take my time but I get rushed when I want to, Metro 2033 for example.
I'm not in a rush. Also trying to collect all collectibles, if it's not too impossible.
I generally take my time when playing games, look through the enviroment.

And that's one of the reasons i like Sniper Elite 3, i can first observe the area, make a plan, and then continue with it.

I once filled a hotel room (in a game) with every single "stuffed animal" doll in the game. You'd stand hip high in them. Good times.
I take my time so I can enjoy a game more. Typically I don't ever play a game more then one time (don't care about achievements, unlocks or multiple endings), so I want my money's worth and that means enjoying it.

But you seem to have many unplayed games too. Wouldn't it be sad if you were to die tomorrow and never made it to see all these worlds and creations you opened your purse for?

I remember in Oblivion I filled up one house I owned with all kinds of items, placing them cautiously in fitting places. A sack of wheat there, a broom in that corner, a sword against that table, a skull on my nightdesk and much more. I was about to do that in Skyrim too when I noticed that when loading the game, or from the outside into the house, lots of that stuff would apparently ricochet around the place rather than stay where I put it. Nothing worse than to spend hours holding down the button to move items around only to see it fly in your face afterwards.

Take my time looking for every nook and cranny even if it results in death.
I look around, then get lost.
I end up taking my time and finding more hidden things. People tend to get mad and try to rush me in muliplayer MMORPG's. But they feel dumb after I find something.

That's why I avoid playing RPGs - be it MMORPGs or Action RPGs - online to begin with. I always feel pressed just to rush on. I want my own pacing.
It's fairly inconsistent with me. Some games I try to speed through, but I take my time more often than not.
