depends on the style of the facial hair too uwu
I can't get to full beard. The hair grows to a point where it feels annoying and has to go.
You'll find that professions that use gas masks (like fire fighters) have stiff regulation on facial hair, since it interferes with the seal between the gas mask and your face.
Having a beard definitely affects your body temperature. I'd argue it feels about 10 degrees cooler without a beard+hair. Really affects your interpretation of the weather. Winter is so much colder without a beard+hair, and summer is so much more bearable while bald+shaven.
Wind can make having a beard feel really fun. Also when bicycle riding. Hard to describe, but it's fun.
On a bathing level, the beard requires shampoo and conditioner, and requires as much time drying as hair, so there's a time consideration. If you don't wash the beard, it tends to itch. By contrast, being fully shaven/bald is extremely easy on a bathing level.
I've found that, socially, having no beard and no hair on your head exaggerates the reactions you get from your facial expressions. A big smile becomes a psychotic smile, a sad expression becomes the saddest, and even a neutral expression can be considered too intense. You can adapt with lesser expressions, but you have to watch it. By contrast, with a big beard and hair seem to "diffuse" your expressions and definitely has a positive effect socially.
Beards and hair also seem to have an effect on children. Could be a Santa Clause related thing, but it's a thing. Little kids definitely seem to prefer beards. And I don't mean your kids, I mean like random kids you see in the grocery store seem to have a better reaction to beards. I've no idea how that one works.
If you are doing martial arts or otherwise have a combat profession/regular activity, hair (beards or hair on head) requires additional defense, as they can grab it. You can defend it, but it's much easier to just not have hair.
On a sexual level, there's all sorts of preferences there in regards to how the hairs interact with other body parts. I'd ask your partner, if you have one, as they often will have preferences.
Oh, and messy foods....the beard can be a nightmare for certain foods. It's can be avoided: Smaller bites, straws, or just cutting your pizza into more narrow strips.
Regarding appearances, people tend to assume greater age with a beard+hair, and younger when Bald+shaven. Whether looking older or younger is appealing, is really circumstantial.
Again, on appearances, the beard needs to be practical for your day to day activity. Even if you look great initially, you'll look stupid if your facial hair is really impractical for your life.
