the fact nostalgia kicks in is the very fact that makes people throwback to them, AI would simply copy/paste them, it wouldn't be the 80s/90s/00s.
Not necessarily replicating existing bands but using the styles of the times to create new songs.

still, i would prefer an artist doing 80s synths for instance instead of AI. or two real people trying to make music that would have 90s influences instead of just AI.
AI making new music based on everything or a good bundle from that era, sure, might even sound good.
That would still be the best way.
I suppose they could use AI for some lazy composing, but perform the music themselves.
idk about the best on this one man it's just that i'm not too much of an AI fan. specially for music.
i will always put the human before the machine, perhaps i watched the Matrix too many times :P

AI lacks the skills to make mashups, that are any good.
