What's the appeal of 4chan?

It was a free for all many years ago. Then the left grew obviously fragile and they clamped down, 4chan hasn't existed in any form beyond a gooner forum for a decade now, its a pale shadow of itself.

Anything but Reddit. I will say that some very small subs un-tainted by the sites moderator overlords are free from the social BS, but any popular sub for non-informative purposes is a no-go.
