Cocaine used to be very publicly, openly accepted. There wasn't always a moronic war on drugs.

But, you know, cops need their funding, and that's a good way to distract away from more important crimes also. When you need so many narco cops because it's more of a legal issue than a medical one, otherwise you could be free to teach them how to solve murders rapes etc. and you wouldn't so many in the first place. But we all know mass incarceration is a big business, free prison labor (what's the definition of that again?) is great for business.

Drugs were misused by the public for things they were not made for. Nixon administration publicly admitted that the war on drugs were a subtle way to encourage systematic racism.

I don't think so. It more of education issue. Crack/cocaine destroyed lives of everyone. A drug doesn't discriminate. What had happened is that we didn't put serious dent against known drug cartels is the reason for the lost the war against drugs. Foreign policy failures is also icing on the cake.

The war on drugs is a war on personal freedom. US govt is responsible for massive amount of death and misery because of its mass incarceration war on drugs campaign.

The war on drugs isn't a failure because of a failure to put some "dents" here and there. No.

And also remember when US govt was helping smuggle it in because of their thugs on the CIA payroll? I wonder if similar interactions like that happened many other times that the public isn't aware of.

No, it's the heavy handed, brutal approach and also keeping it more of a legal issue instead of a medical one. Criminalizing it all is the problem.

Go ahead and put a "dent" in a cartel and watch more pop up and take advantage of the black market and demand the country's policies have created.

Also, not really, and I know people who are successful and have decent jobs, including better paying govt jobs ironically enough etc, who use substances like that. Not entirely.

Cocaine is part of the caine family which includes novocaine the medicine dentists use to numb your mouth before they do your dental work. Since both are local anesthetic which means they numb they used to use cocaine before novocaine.
