certain temples in tibet have a kind of stone that acts as a strata for edible dirt to grow on, fueled by dead skin cells, sweat humidity, etc. if enough of a layer builds up then some edible moss can grow on top of it as well. both pretty tasty, though the dirt is kind of flavorless. it's enough to live off of though; the moss is just a tasty treat.
