Why can't the earth be flat???
I'm wondering...

as I was looking at the luminaries in the sky, called stars, in this magical space model where the nothing exploded and created everything going everywhere flying spinning and expanding, yet every night the stars are always in the same position relative to one another, and no one in the past has also seen any change
I know I know globe believers will say it will change, we just won't see it because it will happen in a quadrillion years. How convenient. Or perhaps they will say the greeks lol, they like to say "the greeks already knew"

If you ever played around with shadows using a lamp and a wall you will know that even small things can make a big difference in the shape of the shadow you are casting.

When you ask questions The Science admits that the Earth is not really a perfect sphere but is bulging out at the equators because of centrifugal forces (LOL) which apparently override gravity.

However , when we look at eclipses we see perfect circles- if the Earth was not perfectly round it would not cast a perfectly round shadow unless it was egg- or cigar- shaped and illuminated from one end along its vertical axis.

Except when you're referring to eclipses I bet you're talking about lunar eclipses right? The ones where it blocks out the sun?

In those cases there's no shadow from the earth. That's not how it works.

You can see evidence of the earth eclipsing light though on the moon. And we do indeed see the bulge if you measure it. It's not easily apparent though because there's distortion due to distance.

In a flat Earth scenario, gravity would pull objects straight down towards the surface, but on a flat plane, the force would vary at different points. Near the edges, gravity would pull objects at an angle toward the center, causing distortions and inconsistencies in how objects behave. However, on a spherical Earth, gravity acts uniformly toward the center, explaining why we experience gravity the same way no matter where we are on the planet.

Nonsense and gaslighting. A flat earth scenario which does not assume a finite disc but an infinite plane HAS NO CENTER. We experience gravity the same everywhere because it is the same everywhere, pulling straight down vertically, and not towards any center.

Wrong yet again.

They are not in the same position. It's just that you lack the smarts to grasp that the distances are vast.

I've already clearly explained to you the problem with viewing stars through a telescope - the light is SO FAR AWAY that when you increase magnification through a different lens, the star never looks any bigger.

WHy is that? Because the light is so damned far away that it's almost entirely perpendicular rays. Ergo they won't look bigger.

This is one thing that tri[pped me up when I first got into astronomy.

And we do have recorded evidence showing how the stars have moved. They're always moving away from us.

So yet again not only are you demonstrably incorrect, but you have shown you lack the ability to grasp distance.

Oh and it didn't come out of exploding nothing. That's also not how it works.

You keep critiquing things you don't understand - classic logical fallacy.

Guys, If the earth is indeed flat, what happens if I walk off the edge?

You get to meet the four big elephants that carry the flat earth and then eventually the great cosmic turtle, great A'Tuin.

I know I know quadrillions light years away, gazillions years ago, trillions years in the future. The nonsense ball model

in the space model, right now we might fall off the edge of space into nowhere, falling forever
I'm scared :p

Except that's not how it works. You don't believe in gravity, but it still exists and the further you get away from earth the lesser it's pull and it works off the inverse square law - something else I bet you haven't got the first clue about.

And once again we can easily demonstrate this with experiments I mentioned earlier. Get yourself a weather balloon off Amazon, fill some of it with helium, bung a camera and whatever recording and testing equipment you want in a polystyrene box, well packed. Tie to the balloon and let it go.

It will record the jounry ever goin upwards, showing the clear curvature of the earth as it moves around (thus demonstrating again that it CANNOT possibly be any lens distortion or it would move as the camera moves and it does not). But any other equipemtn can easily measure the weight or gravity as force exerted.

But once again you greatly dislike the fact that there are experiements you can do as it will disprove your beliefs.

The space model? What space model? Are you referring to the most widely accepted Lambda CDM model or best alternative to it, MOND? If you want to refute or disprove any of these models, you need to thoroughly understand it first, and then come up with your own theories and find evidence to support them. You don't seem to understand anything.

But gravity is not the same everywhere? Or are you saying communication satellites aren't real and are fake? Is Starlink and other satellite based internets fake?

Because that's the only way to explain how they are experiencing less gravity and can stay up in the sky perpetually like that. Unless you think they just keep them up there with magic or hanging wires?
