Why do lots of us fall for rage bait?
You can tell when something is rage bait fairly easily, but even when I know it’s rage bait, I still feel the urge to engage. Is this just cause I’m angry about nothin or just cause it evokes a reaction or smth idk

Like example the media showing the Ukraine war just to make you angry. Or when trump is mentioned to make you angry but you don't know him.

Not a specific one cause I’m lazy, but loads of posts on off topic or on other gaming discussions practically begging for clowns and ♥♥♥♥ like all the political stuffs. I know it’s rage bait, but I feel the urge to push my ♥♥♥♥♥♥ opinions

I don't understand the term itself, so it goes past that with ease.

Simply said, I'm a huge chatterbox.
When I start and get into it, stopping myself is rarely ever possible.. And it's fun!
Be it chatting or discussing things- I don't care. i'm enjoying myself each time I'm participate in a discussion or chatting with somebody.

It appeals to some desire to prove that you're right, and more intelligent than the other. By being so obviously wrong it just makes you want to stand up even more and proclaim such. Everything online is an "us vs them" debate now, people can't just let others be wrong.

And, simply put, it works. Ragebait works and that's the only reason people need.
if you ignore the rage bait there's basically no threads to post in
It evokes a primitive psychological reaction.

That's why the "News Media" runs with "Bad News" all the time since it became more about viewership than just reporting on the boring old news.

Keeping people scared or angry keeps them "tuned in" more than being "boring" or "happy".

And telling people "You'll never believe how this simple trick can save your life..." but keeping the title vague enough that the average idiot would want to click to see what it could be uses FOMO or "The Fear Of Missing Out" to psychologically manipulate people into clicking on things that are basically advertisements.

Whether it's trolling or "ragebait" is beneath some of us, if something stupid is posted all it takes is one post to correct the score, whatever the person says afterwards is irrelevant, what matters is that the correct info will be in the thread.

Is this rage bait? Am I rage bait?

I'm rage bait.

Tbf, I actually don't know what it is. Sometimes I guess I don't notice it for what it is, but sometimes I want to make them know that if they wanted to convey a point authentically then it would look more...supportive of said point or belief, instead of argumentative. I think that's the key to noticing rage bait.

If it's about the same topics over and over again, it probably is. Or someone who has been misled.
