I have started to hate the anti woke crowd because of the disaster of the "Anti woke Godot" engine. It was just so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hilarious seeing some inc*ls rage at a literal joke. And also the many "This will save gaming" type posts.

What I hate is corporate or forced progressivism, by the way. Cyberpunk 2077 and Glitch Techs are cool to me.

if anything, its woke to be against companies that include diversity just because they wanna seem like a part of the movement. but anti-wokers are known because of their racism and exclusion of minorities.

With that in mind, what's your opinion on poorly crafted woman characters?

There was some comment earlier talking about the difference between poorly crafted woman characters simply implemented to meet a quota, versus powerful woman characters.

I bring this up as food for thought

(iirc, they mentioned Ripley from Alien, the original Lara Croft, and a few others)

Poorly crafted women characters are a direct result of misogynistic/racist stuff like

"Oh black woman is super tough and crazy loud and always fights! shes soooooo strong and she will therefore be the only black person and woman in this piece of media, just to make sure we're covering all our bases of being half baked about being inclusive!"

Real powerful women characters are because they start off strong and don't ever bow down to ANYBODY, not just opposing men/hating men as a joke. (I'd like to add, the goddess Bayonetta as an example.)

Bayonetta- a strong, ♥♥♥♥ witch who uses nudity and sexuality within her curses/magic. This isn't really fanservice but almost uplifts her because she's not taking off her clothes and transforming into a lady robot with a thong for a MAN, but because its how she uses her power.
This is a well written woman character, shes the main character and a lot of the other characters are women as well (who are written pretty good too.)

Media doesnt seem to understand that diversity is a spectrum. EX:
BAD MEDIA CAN LOOK LIKE THIS:
- "too much diversity", no white/christian/male characters, but only uses stereotypes / bland stupid writing about how racism is super duper bad!!!! and clearly has no other good messaging or symbolism to convey this message. again: show dont tell, right?
very preachy, stupid and one dimensional stuff like

- too little diversity , everyone is the same shade, taste and looks the same. bland + boring writing about how cool and good traditional family or something else attributed to whiteness is (ex: all white sitcoms. i find them very boring and quite uninteresting, cuz theyre outdated as well.)

GOOD MEDIA LOOKS LIKE THIS:
- too little diversity , BUT talks about relevant issues in a way thats easy to understand thru conflict such as showing how ignorance to discrimination can be bad.. whatever (such as racism, homophobia whatever) but doesnt diminish the fact its a real issue. OR show has nothing to do with diversity/racism/homophobia. just like how not every show needs a black ♥♥♥ polyarmous muslim woman whos actually non binary temporarily disabled, not every show needs a white person whos racist and painted as the bad guy. Discrimination can be perpetuated by different races and people (yes INCLUDING ♥♥♥ PEOPLE) as well. (i dont see that often in shows sometimes, like a black person being racist towards a latino woman or a asian being homophobic or something)

- lots of diversity but includes everyone, yes including white straight people. well written that includes a good story, but doesnt have to focus on one of the -isms or -phobias, can just be a kids show with kids of all races, religions, different families etc.
can also look like this but talking about racism/tolerance in a way thats not just
"white people racist, black people good."

there is always some nuance that some shows forget, like how sometimes black/asian/latino people tend to be racist to other races as well, or how being ♥♥♥ isnt an excuse to be transphobic or racist cuz ur "oppressed too". this nuance isnt needed in media where race doesnt play a critical part or even any part in the story. (ie: Rick and Morty, cast is pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ diverse with aliens and ♥♥♥♥ but racism isnt really a big part of the show so theres not really a need to add an episode on how racism is bad)


+ id also like to add poorly written women characters are (i believe) written purely because a character whos an absolute ass who happens to be a white man or just a man in general has to look good. I often see this in ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ DOCTOR and COP (jobs where women are underrepresented) are shows where the women are written so poorly that theyre super annoying and piss EVERYONE off, whether theyre a he, she, they or it. it subtly uplifts usually a man in charge and keeps perputating the fact that the "women are super stupid and emotional and should never get jobs keep them in the kitchen!11!!!" mindset is okay because little timmy saw a lady doctor almost kill her patient because she was gossiping in the surgery room or something.
