Cause of sad memories
For some reason, I think little bit of meditation might help.

Confirm its not merely overactive tear ducts. If it is then consult a medical specialist.
If its the feels then consult a psychologist.
Either way you may not like what you find... but once you know then you can work on solving it.

Overcome the bad memories with positive ones. Love cannot be destroyed so it remains in you, and these are those memories you should recall. Death itself is on death row so your love alone crushes death, I can feel your compassion, you are family and an outstanding person indeed!

Because you're an unhappy and possibly lonely, anxious, and dare I say needy young person, who needs to learn the skill of falling asleep.

It doesn't make up for the other stuff, but it's a good skill to have.

Good luck out there!

I'm sorry to hear that, speaking to a psychologist may be helpful if you feel you're unable to move forward.

If you feel depressed and very sad, and you think you may be a risk to yourself, I'd recommend immediately seeing a Clinical Psychologist and a Psychiatrist, if you're unable to do so, go to Accident and Emergency (A&E) at your nearest hospital.

You can also speak to Beyond Blue on 1300 22 4636 in Australia (Not sure if it can be reached externally), their councillors specialise in anxiety and depression.

Good luck on your journey.

Take it from someone that knows and funny enough made it to become a psych. My life is well unmentionable but you have to learn that memories are history, what ever has happened and could not happen any other way. They are memories for a reason because they are behind you and the effects they have now is nothing more than a ripple and ripples eventually fade away.
