Why do you think some songs start off slow? Or have a long build up?
When a lot of times if a song doesn't grab someone early on they may switch to a different song. It always seems like a risky creative choice. It can bore the listener. As a nightcore listener, normal songs are already at a disadvantage of being slower than what I'm used too.

Do you OT prefer songs with a slow start? Or songs that start off strong. Or perhaps songs that stay about the same throughout? For example I consider https://youtu.be/WYrO_eVSc6U a song thats about the same throughout.

You don't like slower songs? There are lots of great ones.

For example, I actually prefer this "Layla":

Plenty of rocking songs start slow and end up thrashing by the end. I mean there's

and then

and even

and also of course

I've never been a clapton or bruce springsteen fan.
By the time the song gets going the match is over

As in below pop song from 1992, it is executed as a gradual rise up and make the point of song come to the fore, with a smooth pass from one rhythm to another. It is required for some songs to make the main sequence sound more meaningful for those who are not in the mood beforehand. Example:

Its name translates as "Almost going crazy, where is my Doc?":

If the song has too slow a start I employ my godly powers of my mouse clicker to advance the song. Unless its an absolutely worth it later song, so few are though.

Theres "chill" and theres "boring". Chill is cool.

Coffee and music have the same job, keeping my vibe high.

...intro...intro...intro...song!...boring fading out

I can easily be bothered my intros sometimes.

This is a prime example. I edited it out for myself, even.

Thats cool how people can leave message at different time stamps of the song. Thats very much a kind of chill intro. It still has some energy. Though it doesn't really go anywhere.

The next song got a pretty sweet intro "Dark Horizon (event horizon edit)"

I don't think its a band for me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOfTJQ0zejQ

I'm skipping all over on their songs. Is there a best song by them?
buildup

tbh though i can work somewhat the opposite if you start a song at full blast to get someone jolted into it.

Mostly with techno and EDM where you gotta keep the party buzz going. So they usually have songs that just start off energetic af to keep the rhythm and pace.

Same with metal songs.
Sometimes songs are about expression, and certain songs are better to listen to depending on how you feel.
