Using an Apple keyboard for gaming
I use an Apple keyboard on my PC for gaming. Thoughts? GO

I'm learning stuff I didn't know today... lol, and it's not about what keyboard I should have, it's about further segregation in the pc gamer community because we actually have options. :rfacepalm:

Thanks. At the end of the day input is input and everyone's getting the same results. There are keyboards and then there are better keyboards with more functionality, I don't know why I should be totally hated on for using an Apple keyboard though lol

Use what ever you feel works. Even if it is playing BO2 with a flight controller, as long as you are playing well an comfortable with what you are using, don't worry about it.

An apple keyboard is still a standard keyboard, but branded by apple. Not real difference.

Nice to see people are more level headed here. The best part about being a PC gamer is having options, and apparently it's in that that also causes hate. There will always be people thinking their on another level. My setup feels nice. I can have several brands in what I think they're best at, or what I can afford anyway. Nvidia card, Intel CPU, Razer Mouse, Apple keyboard, Xbox controller.

Except the keys are spongy, too small, ergonomics isn't a "thing" with Apple, the wireless version has very poor battery life. It feels little different from a keybord from a netbook. All it really has going for it is that they are light and nice to look at, which aren't exactly important for a keyboard.

I'm sure if Apple put out mechanical keyboards I might think differently, but when it comes to accessories (mice, earphones come to mind) they don't have a great track record.

I know what you mean. I use a MS ergonomic keyboard for gaming and to learn proper typing faster and everyone is like "How can you game on that? Can you reach the keys?". They layout isn't even that different, just a slight incline at the enter and a bit of a bowl for the home keys.

I'm just as bad at playing with this as I am my brother-in-laws mechanical keyboard (or any "gaming" keyboard). Makes no difference.

The only objection I have to any peripherals are wireless, but that is me. My wife loves her wireless keyboard and plays fine with it.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. One is not over the other.

You don't like it, fine. Others have no issues with it, so let it be.

If this guy can play a game like this, then it doesn't matter what you use to play with.

Thanks for being level headed about it. It's better than just saying no and siding with your particular brand. Out of what I used it's just what I liked so I have an Apple keyboard. I don't use wireless as there could always possibly be flaws in response time, and you never know when it's gonna go out. Plus I think batteries are a dead technology. Lithium ion or no thanks.

Try Microsoft Sidewinder X4 or Corsair Raptor K30 if you want good $45-50 gaming keyboard that wont bancrupt you. Mechanical keyboards are nice but decent quality mechanicals are all over $100.

I only have a Q8200 2.33 Ghz quad and 4GB ram It's started to show age.. Pretty sure anything else is a priority over $100 keyboards lol. I'll try something else when I have the money I guess.

Is it strange that I am bewildered at all the fuss over a keyboard ?

Then again, I just use a standard one with a standard mouse. Never found the need to upgrade them or anything.

This is what I use. It will often go on sale for $20 with free shipping on Newegg.

I've even used a generic $5 one before too. A bit noisy, but that is what headphones are for. :-)

As long as your keyboard is working, I see no reason to get a new one though.
