LEGO RACERS
This is just a thread to see how many people...
1. Have played this game in the past.
2. Enjoyed the game and thought it was fun.
3. Would like to see Steam acquire this game

Just a general discussion to see what people think about this game. I personally think that it would be cool to purchase on Steam for nostalgia!

Yes, I have a copy for the N64. Frankly it was bloody awful, and not really that fun at all due to horrible handling and execution. There are FAR better examples of kart racers available for the PC.

That said, I think you need to understand a few things.

Firstly, you have one thing arse-backwards. Valve CANNOT "acquire" the game. It is not their place to do anything - publishers contact Valve in order to put THEIR game on Steam, not the other way round.

Furthermore, High Voltage Software aren't likely to have any interest in reissuing this, and I doubt they even have any rights to the LEGO licence anymore, so even under the best circumstances, it's most likely impossible.

This is the first game I have ever played and probably the best game I have played. I would love to see it on steam. Despite the game being almost 15 years old, the mechanics seems better than any other kart racer, but the uniqueness of all of it makes all others obsolete. In fact I'd argue this is the best kart racing game since no other has such rich themes, customisation of cars and driver, upgradeable power-ups or the most amazing soundtrack. I think this game could be very popular if released.

Valve doesn't usually acquire games -- to my knowledge, DOTA2 is the only exception that wasn't done inhouse, and even there they merely hired the team behind the predecessor so they could make DOTA2 or something similar to that.

I respect you like this game, and I don't take that away from you. But I absolutely disagree wiht your claim that it is somehow on a high pillar of excellence like that. There are many kart racers that do offer FAR better mechanics than this.

Sorry, but it was not that great as far as what you're claiming. I would wonder if you have perhaps not played a lot of games.

I remember trying Lego Racers out on a friend''s N64, thinking it would be yet another charming yet somehow bland Mario Kart ripoff. I was wrong. It wasn't even charming.

The only Lego games that seem to have hit the mark, in my opinion, are the TT Lego:Insert Movie Here ones.

Perhaps it's not the best game I have ever played but it's definitely one of my favourite games (probably because of deep nostalgic feelings). I don't find kart Racers the best of games and the only ones I have played would be Mario Kart and Lego Racers. However the uniqueness and the gameplay (which stands out despite its age) gives reason to why this game should be on steam for anyone who wants to buy an old, cheap, fun game.

So the same reason they don't have Sonic R?
You say I ain't worth a bump, but I feel like a necro'd thread.

Anyway, I played the second game on PS2. It was the first game I completed 100%

I actually haven't played the game in a long time. Forgot all about it. And now that I've seen gameplay of it... I suddenly remember.

It's beautiful.

I've played it. It was fun but got unrelentingly difficult later on.

Man I loved this game when I was little. Was always fun catching 3 white bricks and then a green one to warp across the map
