How do I recover my Google account after I lost my phone?
Hey, so recently I lost my phone. And my email account had a 2-step-verification enabled. I haven't backed up any of the 8 digit codes.
The phone number is still the same, but it doesn't ask for my phone number.
There's another way to log into my account - they send me a code to Gmail. But I can't access Gmail because I lost access to the phone and I haven't backed up the codes.

Please, someone, help me, I started a Youtube channel over there and so far it's been going great. When I try contacting the support team of Google - they give me posts of other people rather than talk to me.

Thank you.

If you didn't keep the backup codes, you may not be able to.
this is crazy :(
Have you set any recovery emails? If so, log in there and retrieve the message.

I found my Gmail account, which I used when I created the account I'm trying to recover. There is a lot of mail evidence of that. But it's now unlinked from the account I'm trying to recover :(

I have the same phone number as I've had on my previous device.
I appreciate any help
Get a new phone and replace the SIM card with the same phone number, while blacklisting the old phone. If your phone is covered by insurance, you would have to file a police report, sending it to the insurance company and they will cover the costs of the new phone or replace it for you.

To get a replacement SIM card, depending on your cellphone, you would need to go to your cellphone provider with:
- Police report (sometimes, but very helpful)
- Photo ID
- Cellphone account

The lost SIM card is turned off and the old cellphone will be blacklisted via it's serial.

The new phone will function with the same phone number and therefore work the same with any 2-step password protection.

As for Google Account vs Gmail, they are pretty much one of the same. You can login to one, then access the other. Your Gmail password is the same as your Google account password, just sometimes the username is the same just without the @gmail.com. Same deal with Youtube accounts, it's linked into the Google Account and those are all tied together.

https://accounts.google.com/signin/recovery

If you have failed to login a bunch of times, leave it alone for a while. As a temporary brute force protection would of kicked in and prevents you from logging in even with the valid details.

Sadly my phone isn't covered by insurance. It's pretty much not fixable (the whole OS is broken). I use the same SIM card from my previous phone on my new one.

But the thing is that - for 2 step-verification to be completed it asks me not for a phone number, but specifically for the phone I had before (it even mentions the manufacturer).

The link you have provided will send a code to the email that I'm trying to recover. So I can't see the code they send me.

I have messages from Google about creating the account on my other email. But I do not have any backup email linked to the one I'm trying to get in.

If I could I'm pretty sure I can prove it's my email - have messages about creating it, I know the password, phone number, there are even Youtube videos on that channel all with my voice. Sadly, I do not know where and how to prove it's my account. I tried contacting Google but I couldn't.

I appreciate any help. Thank you for helping me, man. That account means a lot to me.

you can try contacting google, if you can establish your identity and tell the the contents of your emails to them they can reset your passwords, don't know if i was just lucky but this is what i did
in the exact same situation.
Keep the same location, same PC, web-browser and IP Address.

If you have a dynamic ip address, if the recovery is refused, try rebooting the router and getting a new IP (some ISPs have IP addresses allocated in multiple areas, you want one in the same area of the Google account creation / usage).

The Google Accounts recovery is smart enough to determine if it's a valid user who's accessed that account in the past if varies things match like that.

Use the account recovery:
https://accounts.google.com/signin/recovery

Enter the last password you remember.

If you can't use or answer a given option, click the "Try a different question" link for the next option.

Verify your account via "Send a text message" to the new phone with the same SIM card number as your old phone.

The problem is that the link you gave me asks me for 8 number back-up code which I do not have saved anywhere. The only alternative option for me is to somehow access my email that I can not access.
There's no option to verify it with my phone number and I don't know why.

I keep the same location, same PC, web-browser and IP Address, even the same SIM card and I eve have voice evidence if needed. I mean, I could prove it's my account.
Take your time guys, I am really astonished how friendly this Steam community is. Reddit users never replied when I asked for help.
Hopefully I'll be able to access my Youtube channel. It's my passion to make gaming videos.

The logical thing that any normal person would do is..... get a phone.... instead asking steam how to reverse engineering gmails security

I have another phone but gmail asks me specifically for a phone that is completely broken.

How exactly is it broken? What works and what doesn't on the OS?
