You're kidding, but they're dead serious. Banning furries in Russia would mean that children would be taken away from their families by foster care agency, parents would be jailed, and huge fines would be imposed on them that families in Russia wouldn't be able to pay.
Everyone has imitated animals at some point in their lives. No one should be punished for it!

Wow.

I can't assume benevolence here, but it is hard to disagree with their take on trying to prevent behavioral disorders and maybe increasing the likelihood that young people in need of counseling and mental health care could get suitable treatment.

Still, even so, it's hard for me to see them actually attempting to be positively proactive, given that this sort of response is about the only thing a desperate government could do that would have an immediate impact.

Edit:Add - Apparently, the subculture-correct term is "quadrovers," not "quadrobbers" according to this article and others: https://dailywrap.uk/russian-senator-calls-for-ban-on-growing-furry-and-quadruped-subcultures,7070373764515457a

That makes me wonder how much the OP actually knows about this behavior if they could get what seems to be a very simple tern so very incorrect.

Of course I disagree with children being taken away for being weirdos though, despite it seeming seriously disruptive.
