Why don't they fly to the Moon anymore?
Considering it's Space Exploration Fest I remember those days when it was so prestigious to be an astronaut. But they don't even fly to the Moon anymore... Why? Did they encounter hostile life form there? When are we going to Mars? 😏

Why don't we go to the moon anymore? The Nazi's almost captured us last time.

Space Junk and our changed climate/atmosphere.
I wonder when the plotline of Planetes is going to be a real thing; people becoming astronaut so they can become garbage collectors in space.
Anymore? They haven't even been there once.
America is a stagnated nation and we were the only ones advanced enough to do it for a long time

Also there is no research or anything of scientific merit to study.
Its just a rock.

My favorite theory I watched on Youtube some years ago is that when the first astronauts went to the moon, they basically discovered it was like a gas station for aliens from other worlds. Well a gas station is underplaying it, but it was like a station different aliens would stop at as they traveled and we were told to basically get the ♥♥♥♥ out and don't come back. I'm summarizing and not doing the video justice, but it was pretty interesting.

The Moon will be used as a pit stop for human craft so your not far off at all.

They are going to be doing a lot with the moon in the coming years.

My goodness, I really do not know where to start with all the inaccuracy in this.

My fear is they do too much messing about with it and not use the resource it has 'in case of emergency' but tragically as a 'get it while you can' kinda move and screw up exploration and study of the solar system long term.
going to the moon was moving the goal posts....the US could not admit it lost the only race that mattered and lied to the world the moon was the real target.....if you need proof it was a waste understand 95% all things humans have made for space travel are at or below geostationary orbit.... at or below 22,000 miles from the earths surface......

facts matter....the US lost the space race no matter who they lied to.....

Because if they fly this time, they have to livestream and boy....

This time they can't fake it.

So they will die. Humanity can't launch rockets good enough, you really think humans walked on moon in ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 1960? xD naive..

They will say it's not needed and hide. We don't have the technology for moon walking and coming back to earth.
It's old just cold war news you learned by education system.
Is Apollo 11 a fake and Neil Armstrong is liar? 😄🤯🤦🏼

Yes. They likely flew to space, orbited a few times while some hollywood video was broadcasted, then they returned.

Nasa can't even figure out how to get two astronauts home in 2024, and you think they could somehow lift off from the moon and reconnect with their ship decades ago? LMAO

Not a single word you just said makes sense together.

The Germans won the Space Race since they were the first to get an object in space.

The country that won the space race is the country that defined history.

And that was the US with a live broadcast of a moon landing that was watched by dozens of countries on earth.

It literally introduced the Television to most households because no one wanted to miss out.

Fanfare is important. In history and life.

The cost and technology expenditure has not been worth it.
If it weren't for the "space race" blank cheque public support, then much of the Apollo program probably would not have happened (or at least, not for many years) - it is much harder to justify costs now that public discourse is so much more focussed on other priorities than "beating the soviets into space"

The placement of retroreflectors and use of sensitive instruments capable of taking measurements and samples. Other experiments can be achieved on ISS or other high altitude - there isn't really much of value to be gained from the expensive and risky sending human beings to the moon.

but its not given the current state of NASA.....try again.....:steamsalty:

The current state of nasa has nothing to do with the space race.

Right now Elon Musk is winning both the tech and fanfare race.

To do this , he bought a social media platform.

He is what Ayn Rand described in her book Atlas Shrugged as a prime mover.

Then you should do some research before making bold claims of 'just a rock'.
Then what I say would make more sense to you.

and having a look about this topic a lot more sense to others posting too.
