When did gaming peak?
I'm thinking it peaked around 2005-2012, every year was full of tons of big releases, the technology was there to make large scale games with good graphics. And it was before micro-transactions and American politics was injected into every game.

2003-2006 with the Nintendo GameCube.
Best non-keyboard/mouse controller ever invented.

1971, clearly.

Late 90s
I'd say between 2008 and 2016 as the amount of GOOD games that came out in that timeframe is insane...

Some of them still look better than games released in 2024!

Like the Batman: Arkham series, way before "Ray Tracing" and "Upscaling" gimmicks.

Somewhere around 2005, so mid 2000s.

Other than game changing technologies(like VR and AI) when will gaming peak again?

Around 2005 - 2010, depends on the genre.

We're at its peak right now since nothing's stopping you from going back and playing all your old games. (besides game server shutdowns and whatnot)

Halo Reach was made, so about 2010. FPS games started to get rid of the campaign after that, Skyrim did come a year later and most RPG games couldn't top it. Most of the RTS games peaked years before and Borderlands 2 came out in 2012 which was the last good looting game.

So, going off that by 2015 most of the best games were already made

Except disc rot, prohibitive costs of vintage games, studios delisting older games, and lack of support for older PC games.

Younger gamers will literally never know the real Vice City or San Andreas unless they obtain an overpriced disc or pirate it. They will only know the mutilated, Fortnite-looking, buggy-ass cash grab that is the Definitive Edition.

That's enough to make me wish this whole industry collapses.
