But it's life and no one is perfect.
Some people will use your promises as an excuse to manipulate you.
as for promises they are like rules in my eyes some are meant to be broken and some you just don't i guess, but it should be kept if you deem the promise important enough.
is it dishonourable to break a promise? but is it then honourable to break a promise if it helps another person? just a thought, but i guess it boils down too doing what you think is right no one can judge you for that. <3
Like if I promise I'll make them suffer throughly. I'll certainly keep it.
i make a promise too myself that i wont drink coffee for instance, a small promise and only i am affected if i break it, but if i make a promise to another person that has put their trust in me then that's different.
basically how it would affect the other person or people you are keeping it for and the seriousness of the situation. without context of the promise its hard too give an example tbh, a good friend cheats on his gf that's also your close friend do you keep the person who cheated secret and promise not too tell the other friend or do you tell the other friend cause they deserve to know the truth?
it all goes by the persons morals and what they deem right that's what i meant by it boils down to what you think is right and no one has the right to judge you for it either way. like in the example i gave there is no happy outcome either way a friend will be hurt. its surprisingly easy how quickly things can get out of hand <3
Depends on the circumstances
I've had to work with a select few people I fundamentally disagreed with about a lot of things. We didn't get along, and we didn't like each other in the slightest- but respect is impartial to that. Without going into detail, one of them was covering me during a job. Promised he'd intervene if ♥♥♥♥ hit the fan. I promised I wouldn't leave him behind
Cut to ♥♥♥♥ hitting the fan, he kept his word, and me mine. It'd be different if he betrayed me imo- I'd have left. I guess I feel like it depends on mutual respect more than anything else
