i have a feeling spoiler alert is moot here. i think you know what it says.
$870,000
there was only a limited run of 100 and it's a question how he got one. they were basically handed out to nintendo investors only, meaning the price is literally due to their intentional scarcity.
if he'd held onto it the price would have dropped, significantly, as there would be an unaccounted cart outside of the trade circle.
it's like how doge wouldn't have gone up if i'd kept my $100 in it.
maybe someone ruined your mood because you were playing too much, like the agents that manage our internet access.
I won it from the Nintendo Fun Club. Later to become Nintendo Power.
Edit: It was a retail copy.
Figuring it all out is part of the fun.
I heard the person who put their cart in that contest ruffled some feathers doing so, and that the price of the carts dropped from ~$450-$3000 down to $80 overnight because of it. Then were repurchased for $10,000 or so.
yeah I got sent a decoy in a trade. had the real serial underneath. supposedly, it was the nintendo power cart.
There was more than one contest. This wasn't a mail-in or anything. They were going around setting up in malls showing the NES off, and if you had your Fun Club Member Card you could enter the drawing.
I won mine at West Towne Mall in Knoxville, TN. Second Place winner. First place was Nintendo Power Set with ROB.
I don't recall the original ones.
i think the oot/mm internal trading pool happened because people put such a high price on the rare original ones, and they figured they could capitalize on that.
I wish I could, but I played the HELL out of that game. Even replaced the battery a decade later and my save was still there wtf?
as long as the power doesn't cycle the sram won't clear the save.
if a time traveler held the connection closed to prevent any kind of atmospheric cycle they'd technically be generating power. albeit only a coin cell's worth. so it would cost them nothing to do it, energy-wise. and anyone that broke the seal would be costing themselves energy, which could easily be recaptured to negate the attack and re-preserve the seal.
could con god out of a lot of juice just holding that save.
Thus PLEASE HOLD RESET WHILE YOU TURN THE POWER OFF, eh?
yeah the hardware department's sony rep wanted them to contribute to battery expenditures.
sony has some kind of obsession with batteries.
