The more I look at these "elections" - this spectacle for the office of president the clearer it becomes: we lost the freedom we once fought for long ago. Now, it feels like trying to break free while chained to the illusion of choice. We’re like children; as soon as a candidate whispers what we want to hear, we’re ready to believe the fairy tale. And Trump, with his promise to end the war in 24 hours, is especially amusing. I mean, how does he imagine it? He’ll call the dictator and say, "Let’s end this war," and the guy will just go, "No." So what then? Trump will simply hand Ukraine over to Putin? And then China will quickly remember Taiwan, and Iran will decide it's their turn to jump in.

I’m writing this from a burning Ukraine. The closer you are to the epicenter of moral collapse, the clearer it becomes that you’ve long since become a pawn thrown off the board. When a shark’s biting down on your backside, negotiating compromises suddenly doesn’t seem all that appealing. And those who sit back and philosophically ponder "neutrality" probably have a special place waiting for them in Dante's inferno.

indeed, all the power is in the hands of the Electorate College in the US, that's what really matters most. if popular vote had meant anything at all, Hilary Clinton would have been POTUS and not Trump.

Funny thing is the founding fathers of the US never wanted political parties to become the dominant power in politics, but never did anything to stop it from happening either, eventually those parties came together and it was no longer about the persons individual strength and influence, it was about the party until the electorate college was introduced, from there on popular vote mattered as much as an icicle in the middle of a hot desert.
