Would you eat lab grown meat?
Cultured meat, a possible solution to clean meat, without the need for mass co2 production and the suffering of animals to harvest meat. It has many hurdles before it can become good, but if it were to become energy efficient, economically viable for people, and be made from the same stuff as regular meat, just grown in a incubator, would you consume it over meat? I would.

It's not real meat.

Can you define your term for real?
If you need to ask, then I'm going to assume bad faith.

As long as it's not eating the bugs and living in the pod IMF-style, sure. I'm already a big fan of GMO. My only concern is ever who is driving the lab stuff and why. Normally, it's just private enterprise trying to make things more efficient, and there's nothing wrong with that. If they fail, there's always another choice, even if that means growing my own food, or eating the dogs and eating the cats.

I only get worried when governments, or worse, supranational governments and their agencies start mandating this stuff, because when they're wrong, like they almost always are, there is no other choice.

Yes, but no.

I would eat synthesized meat from a class 3 food replicator, but not lab grown meat.
What do you by a 3 food replicator?

eh it wouldn't be something that I'd eat all the time. i would only have it sometimes

Its current stage seems to be just science and ideas, though if big governments jump on it before it’s tested and yadayada, it’s good to be suspicious

There is no need to define "real" meat. Just as there is no need to define what is a "real" person.

What do you by a 3 food replicator?

What we have on planet right now are class 1 food replicators which require an input of raw materials and where materials that are not given are replaced by other materials like plastics usually, often latex.

A class 3 replicator fully creates all materials from potential energy and requires conscious component to create.

In either case, the meat is not grown as its more akin to 3d printing the item ready to consume form.

I see, though three d printing meat does sound pretty cool haha

That’s fair. I see eating meat as eating meat sprayed with some chemicals I don’t give a damn about. If I could create meat the exact same with as meat, which would have no draw backs as it is the same as meat, I would produce i. I do see your point though

That's why I've said I'd rather "hunt my own meat", I'm sure it will not be sprayed with chemicals if I'm the one hunting it in the first place. ^^

We also have some hogs / foxes problems here anyway and both are delicious so it's a "win-win" situation from my point of view.

For me the real problem is simply that we eat too much meat and especially too much red meat (beef mainly). Humans in nature are supposed to hunt mainly small / medium games, like rabbits or birds, so white meat. I think peoples should consume less meat and a different kind of meat to fix most problems we may see about meat production today.

+ Farm animals are essential to grow crops, as they fertilise the ground, so we will always need those anyway.

I simply don't see what added value bring artifical meat products for me, it bring only more risks imo.

Would you rather eat Crawl or fake meat?

I think I would rather have a real chicken.
Absolutely, but I bet it'd be just like this:

Get rid of beef and there goes 90% of the stuff you use on a daily basis.
