maybe cuz the avg user has issues to think beyond
Non- verbal art like music and visual arts do not need to have messaging but stories that are relevant to people's lives are generally more interesting than pure fantasy with no connection to human stories.

It's down to the artist. For example: Hermann Hesse was a convinced pacifist and so he included anti-war sentiments in his novels. Aesop wanted his fables to show people examples of behavior he thought right in his fables. People who create art usually have something to tell us. Some just want to tell a story, others want to send us a message. But how we will interpret the message is left to us, the receivers. There are as many interpretations of a work of art as there are onlookers, readers, listeners... depending on the form.

Artist: "Take me seriously!"
Other people: "Why should we?"
A joke in 2010 can turn into a controversial debate in 2024 which can turn into an anthropologic history statement in 2402.

I don't know.

Lots of people think lots of things.
Because art imitates life?

Because they want to deprive you of escapism. They want you to be unable to relax and constantly thinking about the message they want to push and thus the agenda they want to force. They especially want children and the impressionable and gullible to consume nothing but said content.

Modern audience doesn't exist yet. But that's why they're so fixated on remaking everything in their image, with their ideology and their morals. So that the next generation will know nothing else.
because it sells and pretentious crowd eats it up
They want to sound smart like when that garbage movie the platform came out and critics said it was a sophisticated social commentary so now it gets a sequel even though it's just a boring trash movie with no value
I dislike rote anti-intellectualism roughly as much as I dislike phony intellectualism.

(Or I suppose you could argue phony intellectualism is itself a flavor of anti-intellectualism.)
because I worked really hard on this...

By "some people" you mean the Democrats. Yeah, they're a loud sad bunch.
