Opinions on upcoming censorship/ban of violence and sexual content in video games?
I don't care about political ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ but one thing that genuinely does worry me is trump's goal to censor or ban games. I'm just wondering what are your opinions on this?

First Amendment says "freedom of expression".

Within reason. Freedom of expression is able to express any causes without being arrested by the government. Materials such as gaming can still be regulated.
Well the Supreme Court has literally ruled that video games are entitled to the same level of First Amendment protection as other forms of artistic expression

This was over a decade ago though. Stuff is a lot more violent now.

And if such an unconstitutional ban occurred, it would also have to apply to artwork, books, movies, TV shows, etc.

That's what really matters not somebody on the internet.
We are talking about video games, an almost exclusively online thing

Your post went beyond online. Anything that's takes place offline is considered government responsibly. Yes, United States does regulate video games just like any other countries.

You can cut somebody's head off in a blood fit of rage, but you better not misgender them!

LOL Videogames already have 1st amendment protections, and the only thing keeping AO-Rated games off store shelves are the stores themselves.

It's been like this since the ESRB bullcrap started.

Nothing in the constitution suggests otherwise. Video games isn't part of the constitution.

I'm guessing you aren't American or aren't aware how the courts in America work.

Of course the constitution doesn't say it, because videogames didn't exist back then.

But the supreme court says "The U.S. Supreme Court has explained that video games are a form of expression entitled to First Amendment protection."

And that means they are legally protected under free speech in the U.S.A. just like movies and TV and other things that didn't exist 200+ years ago.

Clearly your wrong about whatever that was.

And literally everyone applauded.
Were you around during the Jack Thompson years? Nothing happened then, nothing will happen now. Throw the leftist propaganda in the trash and touch grass.

Thats why rating systems were created, so that you would know and could choose games that have certain content. The market has spoken loudly... nonviolent games tend to be boring and don't sell well. Sexy games sell really well, but maybe don't tell your friends you buy them.
Interference with this delicate balance will probably make some people very violent or very sexy.

The rating system was created because DINOs like Joseph LIEberman were allowed to tell easily verifiable baldfaced lies, and nobody was willing to correct him and throw him out of office on his ass. I voted Green party in 2016 precisely because those lies are the one thing Hillary Clinton was actually guilty of, and now, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ are ignoring that Trump's cronies told the same lies and are somehow claiming he'll be good for gamers, because of crypto or some equally ♥♥♥♥♥♥ nonsequiter.

Exactly, I don't know why the other user claiming no regulations or censorship. I am American citizen and knew this. Rating system is part of broad regulations for gaming.

If there were no regulations as the other user claims, then why not have CP in the games? It's clear the other user either misinterpreted the laws, or didn't know.

I don't remember Trump saying he'd do that.

BUT honestly I do think stuff in general is a little too violent and sexualized. But also I wouldn't support a ban on that stuff either, nor would a ban stand past SCOTUS scrutiny.
The real issues are at our culture. Unfortunately some of those who want to steer our culture are the ones who want it to be hyper-violent and hyper-sexual so I don't exactly know the best solution.
Remember the anti smoking campaign? Well if it's like that it could on paper work, however it would also need a lot of studies and empirical data to prove porn addiction does cause harm (there's a few studies that do prove it, but even more data is needed), like the many studies about smoking were done over the years.

Other than that, a complete ban it's going to be a futile lost battle like the alcohol ban was back then.

There are currently studies on how bad porn is and also studies on how bad violent video games are.
Perhaps there are not enough studies? Although I'd argue that the porn industry is far far more powerful than the tobacco industry ever was.

The supreme court will do whatever they are told. They are corrupt partisan activists.
