(BTW am not vegan but I do study vegans from a bush or a tree with binoculars.)
EDIT:
Oh and I can't wait to read Bun's comment on this. They are always a treat.
I work at certain music festivals like Glastonbury so the food there is awesome. One of the policies you MUST do if you are a food trader is that you must present at least one meal for about £6 (I think it is now). And you must present that meal to the staff administering the ptches. If it passes, you get a pitch.
This means we get some AWESOME meals for cheap. There's one homemade nachos stand that has been there for more than 20 years that I freuqnet every year - simply refried beans, nachos, and salsa. That's it. Then I'll buy a lot of falafels too.
Also, I'll get veggie burgers as there are several places that do some excellent ones. There's also one place that does halloumi wraps with a sweet mustard sauce (i got the recipe from the owner).
All this food is awesome.
But I still like meat and will eat it as I have some issues with spina bifida and I have to cope with digestion.
But if I were able to I would go full vegan because I just feel better for it, not just for the moral part but health wise. I don't eat pork at all as I don't like it. It really upsets my digestion.
it's their choice, they don't like the idea of eating meat, they're actually allergic to it, etc etc.
We have some pretty decent varities, and from talking to other people I think (but I'm not sure) that we have more range of better vegan burgers and such stuff than what seems to be in the US.
Again I'm not certain though.
But once I realised I could do it, I couldn’t justify going back to having animals suffer for my pleasure and convenience.
It is very true that choosing to take a dietary route at the same time as partners is a great one. But also I found that when I got more and more into vegan food there were certain meat dishes I just couldn't stomach any more.
Now how much of this was down to my issues, or tastes I don't know.
