Hawaiin pizza is spam and pineapple... companies just use ham because... well... spam

Edit:

Do I really need to put a " :steammocking: " after that?... I probably do *sigh*

They're too ashamed to admit it.
Just like Canadians, to try to pin it on Hawaiians. Next they'll claim Chi-Town is the home of ketchup chips. :steamsalty:

For the same reason the atrocious food at taco bell or any "mexican" restaurant at the USA iis called "mexican", to give it a more exotic name.

They didn't know it would be successful, imagine if they called it the Canadian pizza and it was TRASH
A true Canadian pizza would be topped w/ gravy-smothered fries sprinkled liberally w/ cheese curds. :lunar2020hearteyesrabbit:

Because some putz of Grecian descent residing in Ontario during the 1960s wanted to give the Americans and Italians something to complain about.

Because Canadian restaurants seem to think that slapping pineapple on it automatically makes it Hawaiian.

A Japanese fast food franchise in Canada has a teriyaki dish that they like to call "Hawaiian Chicken", which is just their regular chicken teriyaki with rice, except they slap pineapples on it.

It DOES automatically make it Hawaiin though. It's meant as a descriptor, not a providence, to imply with pineapple, and more often than not, ham.

Slapping pineapple on something makes it as Hawaiian as calling it pineapple makes it an apple. I'm beginning to understand why Italy passed that law banning pineapple as a pizza topping.

It's not unlike a Denver omelette. They didn't cook your omelette in Denver, neither did any of the ingredients come from there, at all period. It merely means it has green and red peppers with ham. Hawaiian is no different. Want a Chicago dog? That's just onions, relish, tomato, mustard and sport peppers... Its a food term to describe what's in it without saying all of it.

Probably named to sound exotic. Hooray for deception!

And fun fact: 3 out of 8 posters spelt "Hawaiian" incorrectly. :marijaonlooker:
