Honestly it doesn't matter, i used to think they should just add an aer1 filter to the front of a computer case and just have a blower draw in air. There was a prototype on youtube but nothing came of it.

Just get one of those battery powered compressed air things now off aliexpress and blast it from time to time. Because its a constant stream instead of the spurts people tend to do to save on canned air it works better in the end.

Blocking up your air flow fans is pointless, they are not made to fight that.

Just get a separate air filter, it helps but fine dust will still settle, and the ionizer will make it look worse as it gets fine dust out of the air by having it stick to everything.

yes, but i was talking abotu not putting air purifier filters on your pc case. the fans will burn out. i wasnt talking about anything else

MERV rating is pretty serious the closer it gets to 17, and would really restrict air flow on pc fans.

exactly.

MERV 17 filters 99% allergen, i'd aim for something like that. and 100%

pc on one side, air purifier on the other. op dust problem solved.

merv filters are overkil.. you do want normal filters on your pc fans that pull air in.. and plenty of cases that have build in airfulters you simply can pull out once halve a year... no tools needed.. wash of and stick back.. without having to touch the fans..

100%

and like you said, makes the maintenance nice and easy. rinse and blast with the ole air compressor and good as new.

Or get a laptop/notebook/chromebook and just buy a legit air purifier that sits next to you, running 24/7.

Anything is possible given enough time and money.

Some company "luggables" sells pc fan kits to blow through a normal hepa filter.

But it takes a wall of fans and very large filter surface area to work, so in the end its more economical to just buy a separate filter unit.

hey now, if you have the voltage + static pressure to push through the filters, go right ahead!

me, i kinda dont wanna hook up another power source to power the fans on my case, to each their own lol.

i just preach this since a lot of people seem to have this bright idea to attach an anti allergen filter to standard air intakes without paying respect to the motor that now lugs down, burns out, and then they wonder why they need a new motor every 2 months of service when normally it would last 15 years. lol.

Keeping compressed air on a fan can overspeed it and ruin it

If using compressed air in a steady stream you should hold the fan still manually

One thing I always made sure of is to check the leading edge of the fan blades. I wipe them as they will build up guck and impede performance

Old school: get a box fan and blow it towards your computer to keep it cool and to blow the dust away!

It's called buying cans of compressed air and regularly cleaning your case.

I use a Thermaltake Core P3 without the glass so the parts just standing there exposed on all sides. Seems to get less dusty than having air blown over it inside a case.
