Why do people play those copy-pasted "AAA" games?
I don't understand why people still play Call of Duty and FIFA nowadays. FIFA is infamous for being the exact same game every year, and Call of Duty (supposedly) ruined it's story and also is made up of recycled content. This lazy way of making games even hit Minecraft, which used to be my favorite game of all time before they ruined the game with mediocre updates. The only "good" AAA games I've played recently are Doom Eternal, Hogwarts Legacy, and Hi-Fi Rush. I can only really enjoy indie games or older games now because any new AAA game has a 90% chance of being undercooked garbage. What happened to the 2005-2017 era of games where old franchises came back, and hundreds of legendary high-quality masterpieces were made? Seriously, this time frame gave us Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout New Vegas, Doom 2016, Horizon Zero Dawn, WipEout Omega Collection, the golden age of Minecraft, the golden age of Halo, and the golden age of Call of Duty. I would give anything to go back to these times where I could be excited instead of cautious of new releases. Back then, you were nearly guaranteed to get your money's worth. Now, I have to read reviews, watch gameplay videos, and triple check that the game can even run on my PC before I buy a new game.

They would as well sell shoes, or bicycles if it would make more money. But that´s true for most bigger businesses. The product is secondary to the money nowadays.

Old habits die hard. As for me, though, I've never purchased a FIFA game and the last COD I got was Cold War, long before the Steam release.

I'm still playing FIFA on my mini SNES.

In retrospect, I find it sad that I was excited for Ultrakill because it was a playable, fun game with enjoyable mechanics. Every game should be fun, unique, and engaging. We don't need every military FPS to be a WWII shooter. We don't need every sandbox game to copy Minecraft or Terraria. Not every story game needs to be indistinguishable from The Last of Us. Not every MMO needs to be the next WoW. It's sad how one game makes a genre popular, then everyone copies it.

I guess it´s mainly because they´re multiplayer. You need to switch to the new game, if You don´t want to play on an empty server, even if You don´t think the "upgrade" to the new version isn´t worth it, but still like the game - as there are enough people who only get the new game to have the new game, and then questions are asked why they still play the old, dead game...

There are probably few single player games with a new edition every year.

Yeah. Other than the Nintendo franchises, single player games get one or two sequels with years of downtime in between, if they even get a sequel at all

Exactly the same?????? Gasp. No. The faces and uniforms change. Every single year.

You still want to play as David Beckham after all this time? I don't think so.

dunno tbh.
No, it's not the same.

It might be the same soldiers, with the same guns, running in the same corridors...

BUT IT'S GOT RAYTRACING NOW!!!

But for people like me who don't have 15,000 dollars to blow on a PC capable of running raytraced games at a playable framerate, the game hasn't changed one bit other than an even bigger file size, but that's an argument for another post.

While I don't find those types of games to be fun either, I imagine it's similar to how people still enjoy sports whose rules haven't changed in decades.

It's the same ball game as it was when your grandfather was alive, but somehow people still love it. Certain personality type apparently.
