Teaching today can be difficult in America. I would tell anyone thinking about going into the profession to give it a second thought. In regard to income, and yes income is important today, I'd go into a career that pays much better. My sister is a computer programmer. She works at home, makes $180k a year, loves her job, and doesn't have to put up with parents and never has to take home extra work.
And oh yea.. The behavior of American children today is horrible. Education in America is not valued. American parents do not value education, and its why we are seeing this behavior in their children. The disrespect. Not every child of course. There are also some very good kids. But, teachers are not valued anymore. In America at least. I taught in South Korea and the parents there were so kind, and only demanded the best. Then again, in Asia education is paramount. Its everything. Korean parents will spend hundreds of millions on their child's education. Everything from tutors, hagwons (private schools), etc. Its why Korean students go to school for 12 hours a day. Its a very competitive environment.
And colleges like money, they can create courses that are easy, that don't have as much math. Like artist or gender studies.
If the government makes sure everyone can go to college, colleges can jack up prices. And then masses of people can go into debt to the government. (And then the same government that created the problem can buy votes by saying they'll forgive your college debt if you vote for them).
And if everyone can go to college, every job can want you to have a college degree, even if your washing dishes
If everyone can go to college, and not just the best and the brightest, its the new normal, nothing special.
Also, when your retirement comes from the government, rather than your children. Does it matter as much if your kids fail? You're still taken care of. If your life depends on one of your 5 kids ending up a doctor or lawyer so that you aren't homeless in your later years, are you going to care about their education or not? Or are you going to have 0-1 kids and be like "Ehh, I'm sure they'll turn out fine, Maybe they'll be a youtuber".
And parents upset other kids are in the Gifted classes, and not their kids.
Then the whole marxist thing that wants everyone dragged down, face down to the lowest dirt hole so everyone is "equal".
And progressivism making both parents work, means no one is home to push the kids. Or worse, its a single parent family that can offer very little support, since the one parent is always busy.
Bit hard for a kid to care about an education when they're in ptsd from the divorce.

Today's parents.
(probably also smartphones & social media. Which goes back to today's parents, if you think about it.)
Is it so different to be raised by the Tv, than to be raised by the computer?
The kids raised on the radio had to use their imaginations at least. And one benefit of the radio is you could get up and move around, look in any direction, not be tied to looking at a single spot, or sitting in one.
No wait, that's All My Children.
No it is all violent video games to blame. And Harry Potter. And D&D. And Video Nasties. And Rock and Roll (especially the Beatles). And allowing rude words on TV. And not having an hour gap in TV programming for parents to get their children to bed easier. And people that wear leather jackets and ride motor cycles. And Hippies. And those Flappers showing off their calves. And people not respecting the nobility as their superiors...
I don't have a phone and I'm still an idiot.
OnlyFans, Instagram, TikTok and Fortnite happened.
Of course curriculum is dumbed down. If your goal is more kids graduation, you have two ways to achieve that. Be better at actually teaching more of them the skills they need to pass the tests, or make the tests easier and teach them less. Which route do you think our public education system went?
exactly.
everyone thinks they 'know' everything about everything all because they can tap a button on their phone and get fed feeds on w/e info fits w/e agenda they are trying to push or defend.
Take away peoples phones/internet and the current gens know literally ~ nothing ~. If they cant get out there phones to 'let me check' or 'wait let me look it up' they are completely LOST.
when the grid goes down the youngsters are completely going to collapse. they have zero actual skills or knowledge. even basic things around the house. totally lost w/o 'let me check on google'. Now they aren't even graduating with basic reading, math, thinking skills . being groomed to be manipulated by whatever side they vote for.
a society that is 100% reliant on a crutch 24/7 is hella worrisome. But that's okay becasue its all just a meme and a big joke. hur hur derp
sad.
