I mean religion is a fundamental values clash that makes long term relationships impossible if it doesn't match (mismatched and uncompromisable views on raising children being the main one)

Refusing to listen to each other, I'd say.

If they can't communicate in the beginning, then the progression towards the relationship stops.
Being too nice is understandable, if they can explain why're they being that nice, so it can be measured whether they're that nice by nature or are merely putting up on an act.

And, of course, making it all about money.

I could go on with some more stuff, but I wouldn't have wanted to discuss them, so this is all I'm willing to mention.

why do people care so much about the "paying for the bill" thing

if you like the person in front of you and enjoyed my time with her then go pay the bill, it doesnt matter if you are a man or a woman. This isnt about being a gentleman its about being kind.

expecting or wanting the person to pay for it is just quite disrespectful, in the end you are eachothers companions and not bussines partners
