Perhaps the term American saviour complex is the term to use if we're nitpicking.
Far Cry 1 to 6 features American protagonists despite the franchise visiting different continents across the globe.
How about Assassins Creed: Revelations? The Italian Ezio Auditore travels to Constantinople and puts to rest the conflict between two sons of the Sultan.
I really don't see how that is any different than a black man travelling to Japan and resolving conflicts between warring shoguns.
Generally speaking, when Americans enter regions of conflict, they usually make things worse.
While they aren't minorities in the global sense, they are minorities in the developed "First World" which is the target market and audience of these games.
Canada: Approximately 72% of the population identifies as white.
France: Roughly 85% of the population identifies as white.
Germany: Around 80% of the population identifies as white.
Italy: Over 90% of the population identifies as white.
Japan: Nearly 98% of the population identifies as Japanese.
United Kingdom: Approximately 86% of the population identifies as white.
United States: Roughly 60% of the population identifies as white.
How about the whitewashing in these films? Did you complain when they came out?

Little bit of a grey area. White people were represented in Constantinople and there are many people of Greek descent in Turkey today.

No argument there, fully agree.
True, but that's only a contextual minority and one that's rapidly growing while the White population shrinks rapidly. And in Canada, the UK, the US, the overwhelming majority of births are from POC - I wouldn't be surprised if it's like that in the rest of the countries (except Japan, obviously). So, as a result, I wouldn't even apply the term to the US, especially when the US lumps in people from MENA as White, even if they are visibly brown.
Besides, two wrongs don't cancel each other:
You can't do blackwashing for Industries under the guise of diversity just because of earlier examples of whitewashing.
You can't vaporize thousands of Japanese civilians with Nuclear bombs because of the earlier Pear Harbor attack.
You can't goad the crowds to be bisexual starting from childhood just because of earlier oppression on Trans people.
