Why is temu getting to be so popular?
Is it really worth it to save a few $ buying products made from recycled medical plastics and that will charge your credit card random amounts for no reason afterwards hoping you don’t notice?

Temu is like a parasite in China, undercutting and destroying all other competitors in their homeland forcing them to lower their prices till they can’t afford to be in business. Once temu comes out on top cannibalizing their countries middle class the low prices won’t continue but the crap quality sure will.

I hear of people buying boots off of temu and they get sent counterfeit designer scarfs instead.

Viral marketing and literal hacking. They send out insane amounts of spam, try to force auto-installs on unrelated apps and steal massive amounts of data.

They aren't even a good retailer of any sort, they are there to "look" like they are a retailer when they are more interested in stealing data than selling any product.

Basically prey on people during an inflationary period with the promise of extreme sales and deals to get people on their botnets, even just once, so they can steal as much data as possible.

One of the cheapskate hoarder boomers in my family recently downloaded the temu app on his cellphone thinking he found a great deal and within a few days almost everyone in the family was getting countless spam emails from temu and affiliates that were also stupidly hard to unsubscribe from requiring verification codes and time limits.

people want to sell their data.
Temu is mostly a scam, with cheap rip-off products and harvests a ton of data off the user's smartphone. Like it collects way more data than required for a shopping app and likely sell it on.

Currently Temu is getting mass advertised around, such as on TikTok. People claiming they are getting free products, when using their own advertising referral to sucker more people into using it. Rinse and repeat.

It's similar to a Pyramid scheme, it offers "free stuff" opportunities by having the victim recruit more people into the scam.

I would suggest to TikTok and other platforms, not to allow referral links to advertise. Steam at least doesn't allow it.

Lots of the "free stuff" is just cheap knock-offs and pretty much created with slave labour.

They are still under investigation, so you have been warned.

One of the other apps related to Temu had been terminated from the Google Play store due to even having malware. Temu's own smartphone access could do the same in data snooping almost everything.

I normally just avoid these sites, I normally get clothes from local places, for example, i get my band shirts from a local store.

Affordable products. It's not bad to be honest. They do well as cost of living rises so people purchase what's best for them financially.
Same way that Wish and TikTok did - Chinese botnets and cringe compilations.
some people think they can improve the cheap garbage they bought... until it arrives and is exactly that, pure nonredeemable garbage.
With respect to some manufactures you find the quality much better from other countries despite the slightly higher price. Bought a small mirror made in China and when the handle broke, bought an almost identical one made in Europe for about $3 more and the build quality was startlingly more better. That's not to say Chinese manufacturing is bad, decent products made for western markets but only when the brand is doing the quality control.

Simple. People love buying cheap garbage, even if they know it's low-quality. It's basic, monkey-brain-level, dopamine ♥♥♥♥.

Temu is the perfect embodiment of why communism is such an abhorrent, comical failure.
Americans shop based on price, not quality. That's why Temu is so successful. As long as they keep the prices dirt cheap they will attract the dirt cheap customers and there are a lot of them in America.
