Is believing in an afterlife stupid?

Believing in an afterlife seems like fairy tales for adults. Something to make people feel good because being dead for eternity is too scary a thought, so we made up this nice story about an afterlife when it's far more likely it goes dark and that's it.

To be fair, I have never seen God being described as clever or intelligent, only as all-knowing. Being an extremly stupid mafafaka (in this case literally, see Trinity) using a cheat-code would not contradict the biblical depiction of god.

Existing forever sounds really bad. After all over an infinite amount of time, anything that is possible, no matter how improbable (as long as it isn't literally impossible) is guaranteed to happen - infinite times eventually, no less.

So if you go to an afterlife for ever, then sooner or later you will end up in a threesome with Hitler and Ghandi, or whatever other horrendous scenario you can't imagine yourself doing now, but presumably after being bored for a few quadrillion years or however long it takes you will eventually cave into the temptation of doing something new.

I don't think it is. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of course and I don't believe someone should be force-fed a religion if they don't want to hear about it, but it certainly isn't stupid. I'm personally Christian and grew up in a household that is Christian, but that doesn't mean I call Athiests stupid. I actually have a bunch of Athiest friends, some being my best friends and that's completely okay.

Stupid? No, we have no proof one way or the other, so believe what you wish. It doesn't make sense to me, though, but I don't feel like spreading my bleak outlook on life does anyone any favor, so I won't try and convince anyone that I'm right. I hope I'm wrong.

No, I'm not entirely that. But I do have reason to believe some people are nothing more. Kind of like animals, though I wouldn't think about that idea too much.

And so, when it comes to what happens after death the honest answer is I don't know. I have a good feeling that its probably nothingness. I don't really believe in the NDE stories that you see on YouTube because for 1) they vary from religion to religion. A Hindu will see Hindu related stuff and a Muslim will see Muslim related stuff, etc. And 2) They aren't truly dead. the brain is still very active and we know what the brain does when it is under immense stress. And 3) There are many people who were near death and experienced nothing. And so, who knows...

The honest truth is no one knows. Its unfallfisable.

No, the afterlife is not some stupid concept. If you think about it, life's to short, and the universe has been around for centuries. We dont live to see the world end, we dont live forever. It'd only make sense that there would be an afterlife because why would we live a short life in such in a place (our universe) that has lived for practically "forever."
