Classic Trolley Problem
The trolley problem's probably one of the most famous philosophical thought experiments. So, I'm gonna ask you, steam users. There's a trolley barreling towards 5 workers on one track which will kill those workers. You see a lever that can switch the trolley to the other track, but it'll kill 1 worker instead. What would you do and why? Serious answers.

Wait till the Trolley's front wheels start to turn down one path...

Then hit the switch so that the back wheels start travelling down the other path...

The Trolley will derail and slide between both parties. Therefore you can save them both.

So you think letting 5 innocent people die is the logical thing to do if it means not having to be the one to make the agonizing choice to switch the tracks? Imagine what you should say to those 5 families when they find out you just sat back and watched instead of taking an action that minimizes the loss of innocent life.
Well, their mistake was thinking logic had any hand in the situation that unfolded. It didn't, it was a scenario of pure principle.

Hah, it wasn't even about the cost of giving, or taking human life. For me, it was about the few, over the many. Where was those 5 men's *society* to save them? Not present when they died, clearly. Instead, I was there. And I choose what I feel is right.

If the five are climate cultists then they would be quite happy do die to save the planet.
develop some other culture, that's not related to God, not related human language ,
there will be no track, no train, no humans. no need to trouble oneself with choices.

Obviously you'd kill 1 person instead of five... Why is this even a debate?

What if the tracks are much closer together than that?
MULTI TRACK DRIFTING!!!!!
It`s overused trope with no real answer.
You can pick the third option, and switch the trolley exactly when the trolley is passing over it.

This will cause the trolley to derail, crash, and kill everyone onboard the trolley.

But hey, at least we saved all the workers right?
How would I know that? It's an absurd situation. You imagine I am some kind of movie hero or something. And how would I know what the lever does and that there are people on the tracks and that a trolley is coming? You say "You see a lever", so that must mean that it isn't my job. If I just happened to pass by, I would be aware of none of these things.

Pull the switch at the right time to achieve multi-track drifting and kill all 6.
I can't imagine a scenario that would be this simple.
In reality the decision would also include yelling at them, taking note of who had seen the trolley coming, the age of the people, whether there are children and that would influence my decision.
If, for example, I was standing next to Trump, I would throw him under the trolley to stop it and save all six people.
Fire all the engineers and contact OSHA; this work environment is in severe breach of multiple federal and state safety requirements.

but let the 5 die to make the class-action suit against the company stronger

i dislodge the lever and stick it in the tracks, hopefully causing the trolley to derail enough to either tumble to the other side or get stopped by the ground beside the tracks
Just make it illegal to run trolleys during maintenance.
